5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 - Revoltech G1 Megatron I'm not a huge Megatron fan. Just about every one I've ever owned, just didn't do it for me. Hegemon looks good though.
1. TFA Leader Class Megatron 2. Generations WFC Megatron 3. Cybertron Megatron/Galvatron 4. Energon Megatron 5. BW Megatron
No real order here but: -G2 "Hero" Megatron: managed to downscale and articulate the previous G2 Megatron, while keeping the basic transformation intact. The only issue I had with it was the air bellows launcher, and that is minor. Now lets see them bring it on down to deluxe scale for the next line of Classics and see how much more they can improve it. -G1 Megatron v1: One of the few to match Prime with features like his build-able particle cannon (the stock/silencer/scope cannon). Most other Megatrons are just smaller than their matching Prime, or just make a huge vehicle/robot like G2 Megs being huge compared to the Prime from that year. -Classics Voyager Megatron (all decos): Really interesting update to the original concept, first to bring back the big gun on the arm thing. Hasbro version looks like I imagine he fixed himself after the Action Master version. Ok, that isn't actually five. But they are the versions I really love. +-MWG-+ 400
TM Megatron TM2 Megatron BW 10th TRU Megatron Animated Leader Megatron Marauder Megatron, never made, but beats others for my top five.
5. Beast Wars TM2 Megatron (a big imposing dragon. Who could not love this? There have been other Dragonformers but none ever made for quite such a menacing alt mode as this one.) 4. G1 Megatron (A great design for its day. Though somewhat limited by the technology of the day it had tremendous features and playability. On top of some nice alternate weapons, and the big fusion cannon, the additional barrel extension, stock, and scope in gun mode gave lots of options to the design, and that these could be assembled differently to support his robot mode, gave him enough features to be on par with the G1 prime mold. Leaders really should do a little more than the rest.) 3. Classics Megatron (It's a reimagining of the G1 megs. I love the nostalgic feel of making him a gun again, putting the fusion cannon back on his arm, and how his robot mode is both homage to G1 and still a new design that embodies the feel of the character while taking its own original angles as well. Only downside is it doesn't actually shoot) 2. Armada Megatron (Sure it's big and blocky, but the chunkiness is part of the charm, and it makes him truly imposing. All of the little features in both modes makes this mold a real return to what I liked about TFs in the 80's. His tank mode is less a vehicle than it is a playset built to interact with smaller figures. It gets bonus points for being the first Megatron to combine.) 1. Just look at my username (An incredibly detailed mold with tons of versatility and innovative design. Sure it took a bit of imagination, but that's what toys are about. First he had 6 modes and later 10, and if you're willing to take some time and screw around, endless playability.)
