I can't stand it when I get a figure that looks like it was supposed to have light-piping, and where the clear part was supposed to be, there's solid plastic instead...

I also hate painted windows/canopies...it just feels like a cut-corner when the clear stuff looks so much better.

I wouldn't say bother, but i find it a little annoying when there's hollow parts on the figures or weapons and with just a little tweaking it could have been an extra 5mm port. Or a tab fitting elsewhere on the robot. Anyone else find themselves saying: "Man that's almost a sweet port/tab/peg there!"

Do repaints count? I get it, it's a great way to save money and extended a line, but it seems cheep and lazy to me.

It depends for me, does the "repaint" provide a new and interesting character or is it just "Stealth Bumblebee 1986342985629384756"? If there was 0 repaints the whole of the Transformers mythos would be a much bleaker, much smaller place. Cynical cash-in repaints are trash, BUT creative, lore expanding new character repaints are fine with me. Hell I just spent 8 dollars to get reprolabels to change TR Eject into "Legends Dispensor" because I'm a Mt. Dew addict.. Give me a hook that matters! Something that has a reason to exist! "Hey kids/adult collectors look it's black Bumblebee! It's really cool!" No Hasbro, it's bloody well not cool.

And let me tell you something! Putting those tiny little stickers on his head was a pain in my arse!

TR Ptero's flying throne mode. It just looks silly and kinda stupid.

I agree. ROTF just weren't fun to me due to their complexity.

Yeah. I don't mind an transformation of reasonable complexity or unusual steps, but when it combines panel perfection with a high amount of steps and a toy's tendency to get in its own way (like several RotF toys did)... it stops being fun and starts being work.

/\RotF Jetfire was the definition of a finicky panel-former.

They do that for safety/ durability reasons to keep people from hurting themselves on those parts and to keep those parts from breaking should the toys they are attached to fall off of whatever shelf they're being displayed on.

Except that Beast Wars actually did take off. It was the first Transformers toy line to have every single entry work as action figures with lots of poseability.

Overly complicated transformations just for the sake of it.

No. ROTF Leader Jetfire was, and still is, the definition of a hot mess. He sacrificed much for the sake of being stuck onto ROTF Optimus' back, and the combination doesn't really look all that good. And then they made it totally redundant with the superior DOTM Jetwing Prime.

The definition of finicky panel-former belongs to Generations Cybertronian Bumblebee. Things have to be just right to line up right, and really doesn't come together until the last moment.

Painted EVERYTHING, to the point where one has to be cautious when converting a toy to avoid scuffing or scratching the paint.

And Cheetor's whiskers. Dear Primus I hate these things...

Revenge of the Fallen in a nut shell. Since Prime I've had a lot of fun with Transformers and its all because of them getting smaller and less complicated.

Easily one of my biggest pet peeves has got to be unpainted (black plastic) rims on the wheels, its ridiculous how much better just about all TF figures look with a little help from a silver marker, which is usually one of the first things I do to a new figure, BUT I shouldn't have to, this could be easily remedied!

Titan's Return has introduced a new wrinkle in the Transformers design flaw pantheon along with Twinferno and Kup, Dachshund legs. Legends length legs on Deluxes. Bad bad mojo.

(ok Topspin's were much better out of package.)

I've never experienced a panel-former worse than SWTF Death Star Vader. Panel nightmare.

My biggest pet peev, non-transforming figures like the Titan Heroes and G1 Action Masters. I mean, come on.. How can you call something a "Transformer" if it can't TRANSFORM??
