Hi there everybody. If you can't tell, I'm new to these parts and I have a question for you guys.

What main G1 continuity series do you prefer?

    This can be:
    Marvel (US or US/UK)
    Dreamwave
    IDW

I've read the first few IDW trades and enjoyed them, but I wondered which series is the best.

    Thanks

While not technically G1 the Marvel (US) G2 is my favorite.

I was REALLY starting to appreciate the dreamwave series before it got cancelled. now that the IDW line is out, I actually just did a marathon last week and read all of their issues up to devastation, and really liked that. I haven't read any of all hail megatron, which may drastically change my opinion on IDW.

a while ago, I read the marvel G1 series including the UK version. I'm not sure if it was the simplistic artwork, but I didn't feel the love for it like the other guys here.

Dreamwave. I LOVED the amalgamation of cartoon and comic series set between the end of Season 1 and the beginning of season 2.

The Marvel comics get my vote. They were my very first exposure to TF fiction, and spurred me to start buying the toys (even as a kid, I deemed the G1 cartoon a joke compared to its printed counterpart). If not for the Marvel comics, I probably would not be a member of this community today.

    Oh THIS. Times several thousand.

The Marvel UK series is still, for me, the only reason I maintain any real interest in Transformers (that and the amazing work undertaken on the Radicons forum). For me in contains the best written and most visually vibrant Transformers fiction in the whole 'canon'.

Geoff Senior remains my favourite comic artist ever - hence my internet moniker.

It's really the cause for all my headshaking on the movie forums, which is ironic, given that most of the 'conscientious objectors' are in fact pining for the awful, awful cartoon...

Dreamwave, the writers really hit their stride at the end, and then bang. No more comics. Plus it had Don's art.

If it counts War Within is second place behind G2 and DW g1 is third. I haven't read any of the IDW stuff though.

Marvel G1 (both US and UK).

If IDW had stayed the course a little longer and let Furman finish what he started before going the All Hail Megatron route... things would be different, though. I was really loving what he did up to and through Devastation. Then he gets chopped off at the knees.:(

DW I think was the best even if it was owned by a total cock
Marvel had a great on going epicness to it
IDW you might have topped the list even with your nerfing of the awesomeness of fort max but then you went all hail megatron on us and turned to shit.

IDW for me, despite AHM cock-ups.

Seeing as how I wasn't even conceived during the Marvel run, and how I only got into Dreamwave a couple months before it died... yeah, it's kind of a no contest.

Dreamwave's story was brilliant, and it was heartbreaking when I heard the company went belly up... But as someone who was brought up more ont he cartoon than comics, it spoke volumes to me!

IDW comes in a very close second for me, because they had the guts to reboot the franchise right from the get-go, and Furman's story was just brilliant. Shame AHM made it turn a little sour...

Honestly I preferred DW (minus what Furman did) and only like the IDW stuff that Shane has wrote. Not a fan of Furman's at all.

i think i was Drunk on 180 proof GEEWUN with DW's relaunch of the comic.
i was just so glad to see my old skool toys jazzed up and with the possibility that it wouldn't cheese with age like the cartoon did.

despite the moans and groans about that Man whose name taints the artists' souls, i liked DW.
i was a bit thrown by some of the Marvel story arcs, but it is still a good read.

    so by a hair, DW.
