Although we never got to see the Dreamwave stories wrapped up,it does give us the opportunity to use our own imaginations and come up with our own conclusions to G1,War Within,Energon, and the GI Joe crossover. In what direction would you have steered these stories?

Unfortunately, their inflated bodies prevent them from walking out the door.

I would have liked to see more of the GI Joe crossover universe, with new stories in the 50s and 60s. Even though the execution was iffy, the whole concept of a WWII crossover was pure awesome.

Oh wow! A Pat Lee joke in a Dreamwave thread! those never get old! Oh stop, my sides are splitting! :horse:

    ANYWAYS

I always envisioned that Megatron knew Unicron was coming and always had, and had tried to prepare Cybertron to be ready by taking control and transforming the cybertronians into a warrior race. The twist was that he didn't know he knew. before he'd even begun the Decepticon movement, he had found something in the underground that had innately informed him of the danger, but he never knew what it was that he feared, just the knowledge that "We are not ready!" So when Unicron arrives in the story and everything is laid bare, we see that Optimus was actually the bad guy in the grand scheme.

Some Star Wars books tried to do that with Palpatine, that he wanted to conquer the galaxy to prepare it to defeat the coming Yuuzhan Vong invasion from outside the galaxy (and, prior to that, Tim Zahn's Hand of Thrawn duology did the same for Grand Admiral Thrawn, that he was trying to restore the dominance of the Empire post-ROTJ to prepare the galaxy from the threats he and his homeworld had encountered in the Unknown Regions, threats bigger than anything faced in the Clone Wars or Galactic Civil War).

It still wouldn't make Megatron the "hero" or Prime the "villain" anymore than the SW books made Palpatine or Thrawn the heroes and the Jedi/Rebellion/New Republic the villains. Megatron, Palpatine, and (to a much lesser extent) Thrawn still went about achieving their goals by inflicting suffering, oppression, and death on massive scales.

No you're right, but in my mind it's all for the whole "What have I done" look on Optimus face and the slow head turn & glare from Megatron.
