Yeah by then we had moved on to the Atari 1200 XL and the Commodore 64 and by 89 I had a 386.(After the Divorce my Dad continued to encourage (Fund) my love of computers)
wow, all the Trash-80's and not one soul ever mentioned the Texas Instruments 99? the TI-99. never owned it, but had a spoiled brat of a cousin who owned it (among other early computers) and tossed it into a closet when he got bored.
The first computer I ever owned was a Commodore 64. I had the Transformers game for it for exactly 1 day and the disc drive stopped working forever. Good times.
I don't know the model but it was an old machine from the early 90's with Windows 3.1. Later got a Packard Bell that while a shitbox worked until 2004 when it started to commit suicide. Got a Compaq Presario from Wal-Mart for cheap after that. Still sucked but she works very well. Infact I am using it right now. Getting a new rig now being built myself. Just have to wait for the video card, mouse, and keyboard to arrive tomorrow and put it together.
we had an ibm xt as a kid that was an old pc from my dad's workplace. it was yellowed all to pieces and it had these huge binder manuals that came in these box-like sleeves. i think there were 3 of them, one for the pc, one for pc-dos, and i think one for programming basic, but i'm not totally sure. i always used to program little games in basic, although most of them were just random number generators with some text attached to them. i also remember i playing dnd on it and that was pretty fun.
First computer was Commodore Amiga 600. 1995 I had my first PC which was a Pentium-75 with 8MB RAM, 1,2GB HDD, 2MB VGA, Soundblaster AWE 32 and 15" CRT Screen.
Wow, these were rare. Produced at the very end, before Commodore went belly up. As for me, I started with a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A, back in 86 or 87. hooked up to a B&W tv. I didn't do much besides play a couple of games. A few years later, I got a Commodore 64, then an Amiga 1000. I later sold the A1000 to get an Amiga 500 which I upgraded as much as I could. Best computer I've ever h ad. It was so ahead of its time! Then in 1999 I joined the masses and got a Packard Bell Pentium 1 with Windows 95. Since then, it's been countless hardware and software upgrades, patches, BSOD's and frustration. Lather, rinse, repeat. Gotta love Micro$oft and their shitty OS Hopefully Windows 7 will change all of that.
