I think every fan has had this idea every one in a while, "How would I make Transformers?"

Would you make it a dark, gritty and realistic yarn? Or a more campy and wholesome affair with red and blue lasers?

I apologize in advance for making this thread as nothing more than a place to gab off about my idea for a TF series (and socialize), but as a countermeasure, I invite all of you to pitch in your two cents on the hypotheical notion of making your own series.

    Mine?, well...:

"The planet Cybertron is a peaceful world, the ravages of war nothing but an unpleasant aftertaste and a bad dream. It's inhabitants live their days roaming other planets in search of scientific advances and the privilege to learn from other species' cultures.

But the wide-eyed Cybertronians should have kept an optic on their own planet...

Deep within the planet's core something began to stir, something primal, something evil. A grim fragment of Cybertron's past had resurfaced, a plauge. Widespread panic engulfed the metallic world as more and more bots fell victim, the disease twisting their minds and forms into monsterous mockeries of Cybertronian life. The infected were rallied by an individual who saw their metamorphasis as a blessing.

One they must share with all sentient creatures.

    At any cost.

Only handfulls of immune bots remained on-world, unsure of what to do. They eventually decided to send exploration vessels to various planets and solar systems, re-establish contact with their off-world brethren and prepare for the worst. They took a new name for themselves, one that reminded them that they were proud and noble robots, a single autonomous unit dedicated to preserving the peace and freedom their planet once housed. Not just themselves, but for all sentient beings.

The head infected was not pleased with the idea of resistance at all. He commanded his most loyal and trusted missionary to incite an army of the most powerful, ruthless, cunning and depraved of their numbers.

And for the first time in countless eons, the Cybertronians had predators.

A craft led by a veteran of the Old Great War eventually made it's way to a small blue planet. It's inhabitants similar to the creatures the virus spawned, but these small and diverse aliens were different. But before the veteran's crew could learn more about this strange and new ecosystem, the head infected's missionary launced a full scale attack on the vessel. Devastated by the assault, the rebel's vessel fell to the planet's surface, the impact forcing it's crew into stasis.

Years later, the crew awakes to find the little, blue planet under siege by their former brothers. They are outnumbered and against impossible odds as both factions fight over the fate of the planet's inhabitants in secret.

A bespecticled young man with wheels stumbles upon this secret war, the untainted robots take it upon themselves to protect him and all of his people, finding a valued ally, a kindred spirit and a purpose to fight in the lad.

These are the stories of how the heroic Autobots and the human, Chip Chase, must face the evil Predicons and other various trials and hardships, to protect the planet Earth."

Your turn, if you so desire.

Transformers: Ignition (Not to be confused with my probably never gonna be made fanfiction) is about Optimus Prime and a crew of Autobots.

Optimus Prime (Garry Chalk): Captain of a small Autobot crew. Idealistic yet gruff leader, drill sergeant type, very strong and large. Uses a rocket axe. Converts into a long-nose truck. Colored like War Within Titanium Optimus Prime redeco, giving him a lot more blue than usual. Also, flames like Movieverse Prime.

Drift: (Kyle Hebert): "Ninja," hot-blooded TRYP (Turbo-Revvin' Young Punk). A braggart with a big heart, mostly white with red markings. Wields two swords. Turns into a drift racer. Idiot hero.

Bumblebee (Yuri Lowenthal): Young, somewhat unsure, small. Always seeking to prove himself. A skilled scout, and rather unsure of himself. Wields a pair of stingers that generate electricity through spinning. "Spark brothers" with Drift. Turns into a sporty compact car, yellow and black. Idolizes Optimus Prime.

Flareup (Michelle Ruff): Fembot, young. Feisty and independent, but friendly. Is mostly black and grey with orange flame deco. Uses a sniper rifle, can change it into a machine gun or a pistol. Turns into a motorcycle. Yoko homage.

Ironhide (R. Lee Ermey): Old 'bot, heavily armed, second-in-command of Optimus' team. Rough-and-tumble, grumpy. Equipped with two cannons and a windshield faceguard. Pick-up truck, gunmetal and crimson.

Lyra Laplace (Hynden Walch): Plucky human girl, orphaned at a young age. Nobody knows where she came from. Mysterious, has strange technopathic powers. Recruited into NEST by third season after timeskip.

    Decepticons:

Megatron (David Kaye): Decepticon General, brutal, vicious. Is more intelligent than he appears. Converts into a MASER tank. Is green in tank mode, and purple parts show up in robot mode for a G2 homage. Has the fusion cannon mounted in his back and slung over his shoulder, like a combination of Tankor and Armada Megatron.

Starscream (Sam Riegel): Young Decepticon warrior. Very honorable, loyal to Megatron. Not sure of the Decepticon cause. Sonic fighter jet. Accepts his role in the Decepticons, even as he's continually demoted for his failures and beaten on. Wouldn't harm an innocent bystander. Similar to Armada Starscream, but more conflicted and more likely to be a hero. Wields a sword.

Soundwave (John DiMaggio): Speaks like a rock'n'roll DJ, does this to make opponents think he's dumber than he looks. Converts into a tricked-out van. Cunning, powerful. Uses sonic blasters located all over his body to attack, and is equipped with a rifle... Shaped like a guitar.

Shockwave (Corey Burton): Second-in-command, cold, emotionless. Has multiple contingency plans to usurp Megatron if he deems him a failure. Converts from a helicopter gunship into a g1 robot mode.

Lugnut (Fred Tatasciore): Big, powerful bomber. Monstrous head, similar to a more classic-revisioning of TFA Lugnut's. Brutal berserker and largest Decepticon, utterly loyal to Megatron. Carries twin maces, and is also equipped with the POKE.

Bludgeon (Mark Hamill): Mysterious warrior, converts into an h-tank. Mostly green and gold. Has no lower jaw, very quiet, hoarse voice. A schemer, planning to usurp Megatron. May be unkillable. Wields a double-bladed sword formed from his tank turret.

Flatline (Ron Perlman): Cruel, sadistic Decepticon scientist/medic. Very Tim Burton-esque design, looks like a goth rocker. Equipped with scythes that flip out of his arms, somewhat of a boogeyman among the Autobots. Turns into a really creepy retro ambulance converted into a hearse. Tends to work together with Barricade. Has an Eastern European accent.

Clench (Clancy Brown): Gung ho, boisterous Decepticon, has a Texan accent. Leader of Megatron's ground troops, consort of Thunderblast. Can control gravity, and carries around a large shield. Converts into a huge monster truck.

Barricade (Keith David): Schemer, untrustworthy, manipulative. Tends to do things his own way. Nobody trusts him, and he trusts nobody. Charismatic to an extent, collected, skilled interrogator. Has a sawblade weapon. Turns into a sinister police car.

Thunderblast (Meagan Hollingshead): Seductive, tricky femme fatale. Uses a large missile launcher/bazooka. Converts into a stealth fighter. Tries to manipulate Starscream into obeying her through a combination of abuse and seduction. Clench's consort.

The Darkness (Dave Mallow): Enigmatic being, similar to Devil Z or Violen Jiger. Lord of the Dead Universe. Seemingly a pulsating sphere of darkness, can manifest a wiry humanoid form like a silhouetted, less skeleton-y Violen Jiger mixed with flames like the Fallen. Chessmaster, has agents in Megatron's forces. (Bludgeon, Flatline and Barricade.) Connected to Lyra. Seeks the extermination of all non-mechanoid life so his "Dead" Universe can expand. Controls an army of organic "Transformers" called the Skriix.

As for the story... Probably has something to do with the Darkness trying to "reclaim" the universe as his own in the third season. A lot of it homages Gainax's shows, such as The Darkness' drone forces being organic, monstrous transforming creatures like some mix between the less-polygonal Angels from Eva and the Anti-Spiral mecha from Gurren Lagann. Lyra is an homage to Nia and Nono from Diebuster (So she's an homage of an homage to her other homage. Wut?) The Autobots (and Decepticons) have other TTGL expies in their ranks; Drift is Kamina, Starscream is Viral/Armada Starscream (Hell, WfC 'Screamer is even voiced by Sam Riegel), and Bumblebee is Simon (Even with his drill stingers!) It also pulls references from across the multiverse; Optimus is based on G1 and Movie Optimus; Drift is from the IDWverse; Thunderblast and Starscream are based on their UT versions; Flareup draws more from TTGL’s Yoko than the original Flareup; Bludgeon is G1; Megatron is similar to his Movieverse incarnation, but more cunning (Okay, he's like his WfC version.); Barricade's similar to his Movieverse counterpart (With a bit of Dr. Facilier thrown in. He's very charismatic.); Flatline hails from the movie comics; Ironhide is an amalgamation of various Ironhides; Lugnut is based on his Animated counterpart, and Soundwave is equal parts Cybertron, SG (As in he's a rocker instead of hip-hop) and Animated; Shockwave homages Movie video game Shockwave; Bumblebee is all G1; And the Darkness is, as said, a Violen Jiger/Devil Z/Anti-Spiral mash-up. The reason for all the Gainax homages is because they'd be the studio I'd pick to animate it, but the writing would be done by either Nick Roche in his TV debut; Marty Isenberg; or Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio. Yeah, I'd go for friggin' broke with this series, huh?

    G1 season 2.5.

20 years between season 2 and the G1 movie. I want to find out what happened and have it be in G1 style animation (just without the errors)

    That would be ideal.

Part of me would like to see the rest of Zone and Battlestars animated by Madhouse (not going to happen).

I agree though that season 2.5 would be pretty stellar, especially to see the Decepticons conquest of Cybertron and how that came about.

Um, isn't this kind of what fanfiction is for?

I do have a fanfiction "series" I'd like to write, but it'll probably take a long time before I actually do.

For a series, I'd want the best folks from around the TF globe to come on in.

    1. Story - Marty Isenberg, Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio as head writes.
    2. Format - CGI or cartoon, doesn't matter.
    3. Homages - oodles of them, just like Animated and its' Almanacs.
    4. Characters -

    Main Autobot cast

David Kaye as Optimus Prime - A Prime who's in between young like Primal and TFA Prime and older like Movie Prime. Typical, good hearted, kind, understanding, and compassionate kind of Prime as always. This Optimus has a jetpack that can combine with him for a flight mode in both robot and vehicle mode, though he prefers to fight without it. Transforms into a 18 wheeler truck, and can fly in this mode with the wing apparatus.
Ian James Corlett's older Cheetor voice as Bumblebee - Young adult aged scout. Not second in command rank, but close enough to take command if no one else is up. Usually leads combat teams. Transforms into a sports car.
Fred Tatasciore or Corey Burton as Ratchet - selfless, elderly but not crotchety medic. Capable in combat and excelling in repairs and medic. One of Prime's inner circle along with Ironhide. Transforms into an ambulance.
    R. Lee Ermey, or Kevin Michael Richardson as Ironhide - tough, brawny, but bright combat specialist. Usually takes command of field operations without Prime. Transforms into a heavy duty pickup truck.
Grey DeLisle as Elita-1 - unicycle just like Bayfilms. Skilled and capable, as well as attractive to male-bots. Trying to establish a romantic relationship with Prime. Transforms into a motorcycle.
Tom Kenny and Reno Wilson as Skids and Mudflap - young, eager, but shy twins. Both have "Southern barbacue" accents, but try to look smart. Not too outgoing, but very friendly and optimistic. Capable in battle, and usually listen to elders. Combine into an ice cream truck.
David as Sunstreaker - Cool headed and peaceful, but loves to bust Decepticons in melee with his Cybertanium swords. Transforms into a smaller chopper.

    Decepticons Main Cast

James Remar as Megatron. A mean, cruel tyrant as usual. Still regards his troops with formality a la Armada Megatron, but doesn't really care for them unless they're needed or valuable. Transforms into an Earth Chopper, like in Animated.
Tom Kenny as Starscream. Treacherous Decepticon who's the de facto second in command. As always, a flier. Despite being treacherous, he is not a cowardly ego-heavy fool. He knows when to betray and when to keep his head down. Transforms into a jet.
Campbell Lane as Grindor - Huge, hulking hound who's so huge Megatron only comes up to his chest. Usually lets actions speak for himself, but will gladly let others know what he thinks of them. Transforms into a copter.
Keith David as Brakedown - Recon officer who's cold, calculating, and a menace to Autobots. Usually teams up with Grindor, and relies on him for flight transport if neccesary. Transforms into a sports car.
David Kaye as Onslaught - Decepticon equivalent to Warpath. Not too bright, but powerful. The typical brawn over brain type. Transforms into a tank. Often teams up with Brakedown and Grindor, but will rely on Soundwave for flight.
Frank Welker as Soundwave. Same old Soundwave. Loyal to Megatron, but not mindlessly loyal. Transforms into a bomber plane, a la Animated Lugnut.
Phil LaMarr as Long Haul - resident Decepticon medic, usually not very open. Scientist as well. Transforms into a MPV.

Episodes should be as well written as Beast Wars and Machines. Developing plot threads should be placed everywhere, with subtle hints for later on. Recurring characters appear a couple of times a season. Main cast should be kept constant, but deaths aren't out of the question. Original cast would be Prime, Bee, Ironhide, and Ratchet. Sunstreaker and Elita arrive later on. Original Decepticons would be Megatron, Grindor, Brakedown, and Soundwave. Starscream leads Long Haul and Onslaught to Earth.

Good question... how would I do Transformers?

Well, I'm kind of in the midst of planning a fanfic that's AU/Movie-verse, so... I'll get back with you on that one.

LOL, that's what the photo-comics, as seen in TFW2005's own Funnies section, are for!

I think I've mentioned this elsewhere. G1 series done up with the animation quality of Beast Machines/wars/ Bay-movies. Really hyped up 3D computer generated models. Pretty much same stories, but with "0" animation errors. Plus a season that ties in the movie and added seasons that continue with the Head/Target/Power masters. Optimus dies again but gets reborn much in the way Megatron became Galvatron, but with the good-side.
Shockwave comes to Earth to be Megatron's right-hand man and Soundwave becomes third in command.
Starscream comes back to life and finally gets to do some leading, but not in total command.....................yet. "He leads small missions".
With 3D computer anime, much more detail is given to each character much like Bay's movie, but without Bay's touch.
More characters are introduced and some old characters come back from retirement.

My ideal TF series already exists, it's called Beast Wars. Hell, omit Nightscream from Beast Machines and that could be my ideal series.

But for the sake of productive discussion, I'd make it a fun, upbeat show that exists in a quasi-real or even "dark" universe. Being serious doesn't mean all humour needs to be removed. Humour is a fundamental of Transformers. You can't not have it. :rock

I'd also make Optimus/Megatron or their stand-ins likeable and real, with more emphisis on their personalities than their roles. Just because Megs is the bad guy doesn't mean you can't laugh with him. That's what TV shows are for, so that you can laugh with the badguy, or laugh at the good guy at times. I'd also keep the cast small. I mean teams of four-five, and few if any secondary or guest characters.

It'd also have really good action. Crazy hand-to-hand and vehicluar combat. No lame-ass stand-and-shoot afair, or if their was, punch it up a little ducking, dodging and diving out of the way of gunfire.

Also, since you mentioned it, I'd mix in bullets/missles and lasers. No reason we can't have both. :D

I would do it similar to the early IDW "ation" series. I would keep the cast small:

    Bots:
    Prime (Usual personality)
Prowl (anal-retentive by-the-book second in command)
    Ironhide (Old man)
Ratchet (g1-style medic who doesn't always agree with the rules)
    Bumblebee
Sunstreaker (the conceited prick ala Animated Sentinel Prime)
    Jazz (the cool one)
    Wheeljack (the mad scientist)

    Decepticons:
Megatron (similar in personality to BW Megatron...always has a plan that not everyone knows)
Starscream (He's...well, Starscream, the usual way we expect him)
    Thundercracker (Dumb thug)
    Skywarp (the Dumber Thug)
    Astrotrain (Materials transport)
    Runamuck (Beavis)
    Runabout (Butt Head)
    Blitzwing

---->I wouldn't have Prime and Megs show up for a few more episodes. I would have the other well-known characters (Soundwave, Rumble, Omega Supreme, Jetfire, etc...) Show up as guest-stars or recurring characters. Keep it similar to the IDW early stuff; no 4 million year old crash-landing, and keep the Robots in disguise aspect of it as a central point. No Autobots playing video games at the arcades. I would hae human characters, but no Witwickys for once.

Oh well, pretty basic, that's what would be my ideal series.

    So Fanfic time:

On the war ravaged wasteland of Cybertron, a war that has been waged for eons has come to an end, but this peace is short lived when a new source of energy called "Unicronium" brings the Decepticon leader Megatron back from the dead to reclaim his throne. Now Ironhide and his fleet of remaining Autobots must fight the new army of super powered Decepticons, and protect the citizens of Iacon from this new threat.

I know its lame...but In my head. Totally sounds cool.

Okay, I'm assuming this is what I'd want in a G1 cartoon and/or comic... not a whole new series...

First off, I'd make it a mixed lot. We've got 7 years of G1 toys to mine, not counting all the G2 stuff that could probably be lumped in with it. I'm sick of it always being the 84-85 guys with a few 86 guys tossed in because they were in the movie. Furman was doing GREAT mixing things up until he was taken off of IDW's books.... but I digress...

Focus the series on Earth in the near future, and keep the main cast manageable. The Autobots should be vehicles, and the Decepticons can be whatever... We've got plenty of room for guest appearances.

    Optimus Prime (leader)
    Pointblank (second in command)
    Ratchet (medic)
    Nightbeat (detective)
    Dogfight (air support)
    Bumblebee (scout)

Let Pointblank and Nightbeat have Peacemaker and Muzzle. Let them both be from whatever police district that knows about them become bonded. Boom, two human characters that aren't annoying, and have a connection since they're both in law enforcement.

    Then the Decepticons...

    Megatron (leader)
    Starscream (second in command)
    Bludgeon (warrior)
    Snapdragon (warrior)
    Soundwave (communications)
    Glit (medic, scout)
    Ratbat (fuel auditor)

It's easy to add more, so they can be more of a threat, but you get the idea. Mixed bag of G1... battling for Earth...

Out in space, there are other contingents of Autobots and Decepticons led by various other leaders like Fort Max, Star Saber, Countdown, Ultra Magnus, etc.
