In June of this year, my department here in Phoenix was terminated. Like a lot of other folks in this economy, I was without a job. So, I dived head first into making some money with my favorite hobby and personal passion, kitbashing. 2 months later, I managed to find work again, same type but better pay. :thumb

Today (right after lunch....why not wait till the end of the day?) my new employer downsized half of the department, and of course the new guy was first to go!

That being said.....I'm Back!! I have decided not to let this get me as down as did last time. Not to step on anyone's personal beliefs (to each his own, guys) but I have faith that everything happens for a reason, and as I continue to try and rejoin the full time work force, I am thankful that I have such a great (and marketable) hobby as I do. Oh..and now accepting commissions. :lol

    Thanks for listening (reading? Huh?)

Man, that sucks! And you're cool about man..you're a very mellow man. I know that this economy is on a roller coaster ride, but at least you're doing something about it. So good for you.

Good luck man! I have had many a similar experience, and your attitude is a good one to have. I always had the outlook that seemingly bad things happen for a reason. Whether that be to open the door to opportunties that may otherwise be missed, or to make you appreciate what you have. Come to think of it..losing my job a while back is what pushed me into sculpting and casting heads as a side job. Good example of making Lemonade (with a little Vodka!) from some stinky ol' lemons. All the best!

:lol  (a little vodka, I need that!) Thanks, Nemy.

Thanks to all of ya'll. Its an odd time for me to be out of work. i moved into a new apt a few weeks ago, missing my daughter something fierce...and my cell phone dropped in the toilet today!

I do believe that all of this happened for reason, and that something good will come from it. I know that as sure as I breathe.

Aww dude that really does suck. I have been laid off since February and I am glad I have some sort of artistic skill to keep me afloat, just get yourself out there and you will be fine.

Sorry to hear this, but think of it as a blessing - everything happens for a reason. I personally, have been making more income than ever before, and I love every second of it. My fiance hasn't been working either, and I am able to manage both of us and a daughter (I know you know that's expensive) - was able to even afford to relocate our family across the country.

You have what it takes to elevate your artistic skills to a full-time professional level....so do it.

Best of luck to you. Your work is incredible...not just a hobby, works of art. If it's any consolation...you're not alone...lots of friends of mine have lost their jobs, but many ended up finding better ones, it just took some time. Keep hope alive!

One of the most positive things about this site is the true concern for the fellow man, and the general concept that faith is held very dear to many of you guys. I'll pray for you on this. What do you do by the way? The economy sucks almost everywhere, but you never know where the Lord might lead you.
