Given that they're basically all the same face with different helmets, I'd have to agree with you.

This is an easy one, as I absolutely LOVE the Alternators Mirage head sculpt for "MIRAGE". :)

The toon model was so generic. I think I like the Alternators sculpt because it stands out. Even the G1 version, which looks somewhat bad, is at least more interesting than the other non-Alt versions. The Classics/Henkei is nice, but too small.

I went with the robotmasters design I just find its the best fit to the original animation model and its really nice. IMO the classics one works well with the body but when you just look at the head its a bit.... odd. BT/Alt Mirage is nice and it does nothing wrong but honestly it just does not strike me as being for mirage

Alternators for me. Love the wind flaps things he's got going on.

Generally yes, especially considering the goal of the cartoon model is to drawn repeatedly as consistently as possible by people with variable skill. The other goal would be to make the robots more relateable or appealing, so the tendency to add more humanoid facial features where the toy had none. (or just outright make stuff up sometimes)

It's fun to look over these 'face' threads, and see how the various sculpts over time draw ideas from media depictions or previous toy sculpts (and making new stuff up)

If you ever masochistically decided to do an Optimus Prime "head thread", the example image and poll listing would make a good wall mural. :)

For me, Classics Mirage, but I also like the Machine Wars/Robot Masters version.
