Over the years, a lot of toys based on, in homage to or intended as an upgrade for G1 Jazz have been released. While some (such as the non-subline/later Universe 1.0 Spy Changer) have been merely toys vaguely resembling the G1 character given a new deco, others are more obviously based on the G1 guy. However, these toys sport a lot of different head sculpts, which, while all based on the G1 character and his toy to some degree, differ in many aspects. Some are closely based on the original toy, others are closer to the animation model, whereas others try to blend elements of the two and yet others try to innovate the design while retaining a few key elements. Which head do you like the most?

Note that this is only about the toys. I've left out a myriad of cartoon screencaps and interpretations by various comic book artists, and the animation model is only included for reference.

PLEASE NOTE that there's 14 head sculpts in the pic, but the TFW2005 board software only allows me to give you 13 poll options. I've left out Smallest Transformers Meister because his head is so similar to the G1 toy. If you still prefer Smallest Meister over G1 Jazz, do not vote and instead say "Smallest TF Meister" in bold in response to this thread so I can count those votes (if there are any).

I voted for the unrealeased Alternator, as it seems to improve on the stuff I like about the original G1 sculpt. (obviously G1 would be second place if there were second places.)

Damn, what the hell happened to the ears/horns on the Encore reissue? What is it about that mold where degradation (and the attempts to fix it) causes such strangeness?

I assume they cast an entirely new sculpt from scratch to fix the degradation of the face, rather than just modifying the existing mold. It's not quite evident in the comparison chart, but the vertical lines for the vents in the cheek guards aren't perfectly parallel either. It's a little more obvious in this photo.

Note that the Encore head was originally used on Transformers Collection Stepper and his US counterpart, Commemorative Series Ricochet.

If only United/RTS Jazz was smiling, then he would be the winner.

That just made me realise that RTS Jazz looks exactly like Judge Dredd, wassup with that?

By the way, Botcon Jazz FTW, given that it's closest to the 'toon model out of all of them.

Personally I think BotCon Shattered Glass Jazz's head is awfully flat.

althought i have bias towards Alt/BTs, I voted for RTS Jazz. i love not just the head but the entire mould. the unreleased Jazz Alt has its flaws, major ones.

Reveal The Shield Jazz. I still say it's too 'frowny' for Jazz but it's still awesome ;)

I'm partial to the Alternator one, because they got the visor right and he's got the right headgear, and his face isn't so rough.

One thing these 'head threads' are telling me is my taste in robot faces seems to consistently go against the majority.

I chose Botcon Jazz. But I really like that Pretender Jazz head and the unreleased Alternator head.

EDIT: The RTS head is awesome too. Just wish that frown wasn't so... Frowny lol.

RTS by a country mile. Robot Heroes in second place.

To be fair though, none of them are in any way bad or unliked by me, I just think the RTS mold is about as good as it gets.

Alternator/BT version. It's just the coolest. I think I like the AM version second.
