    1. Skyrim
    2. Portal 2
    3. Rayman: Origins
Those are the only games (apart from L.A Noire, which I abhor entirely) that I got which came out this year

FYI, there was another thread like this a week ago.

I said Arkham City last time. Then I went and saw Mass Effect 2 was released for the PS3 in January of this year. So I vote that. If it doesn't count, then Arkham City.

Out of what I've played, the only highlights for me are Uncharted 3 and Halo: Combat Evolved. MW3 and BF3 did nothing special for me, and I haven't gotten a chance at Skyrim yet.

Shogun 2 Total War wins Creaky's Game of the Year (a much vaunted prize, sought by all, but attained by only the select few).

Skyrim comes a close second, failing mainly due to the plethora of bugs that have slowly made my old saves utterly unplayable. New life is expected to be breathed into it next year (next week?), but until then...

Honorable mentions go to Deus Ex 3 and Crysis 2 which entertained me a great deal - Deus Ex because I fucking love Cyberpunk (or steampunk, dieselpunk or any related genres) and Crysis 2 because (despite being an inferior game to the first, IMO) it was an FPS you actually had to think in, and in a year filled with bland, glorified rail shooters it reminded me in many positive ways of Half Life. For that alone I give it a round of polite applause. :D

Battlefield 3 I genuinely enjoyed whilst I played it, but the first patch broke my game, and I have since uninstalled having failed to get it working at all in my numerous efforts since, and am now thoroughly bitter towards it.

My favorite game of 2011 is easily Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception. Nothing comes close to how good this game was. It was even better than many of the movies that were released this year. My second favorite game of the year is Assassin's Creed Revelations.

It isn't too fair for me to go on saying which is the best because I own but have yet to play Uncharted 3, Infamous 2, Rage, Assassins Creed Revelations and Rayman Origins.

But, here are the games I DID play through in order of my favorites:

    1. Skyrim (I hardly ran into any bugs, and none game breaking. No other game this year seems to both have this level of atmosphere and content, since I've played it WAY over 100 hours)
    2. Batman Arkham City
    3. Super Mario 3D Land
    4. Two Worlds 2
    5. LA Niore
    6. Dead Space 2
    7. Shadow of the Damned
    8. Sonic Generations
    9. Kirby Wii
    10. Skyward Sword

All fun games but I had a serious love/hate relationship with Skyward Sword. Most of the gameplay is well designed, but it seemed like it was pieced together by a team of people who either haven't played video games or at least haven't played them in the past 10 years. Ability to teleport to places across the map that you've been to? Auto Saves? Optional Tutorials and not forced ones? Voices? Avoids fetch quests via backtracking through a limited number of areas? Avoids taking controls out of your hands to remind you of basic things? Good writing? Avoids annoying user interface sound effects like low health? You will find none of these modern conveniences in Zelda.

Ah, totally forgot Portal 2. That definitely is up there in my top 5.

    1. Portal 2
    2. Arkham City
    3. inFamous 2
    4. Uncharted 3. Mostly on the merits of it being an Uncharted game... not because it's oh so fantastic.

    1. Batman: AC
    2. Saints Row: The Third
    3. Forza 4
    4. Dead Rising 2: Off the Record
    5. Skyrim

Skyrim would be higher, but I have yet to sink a lot of hours into it. When I do though, expect it to be number 1 on my list.
