I go to yard and garage sales nearly every weekend and haven't found much of anything in over two years. The best I've found was a G1 Huffer for a quarter, TM2 cheetor complete for $1, Armada Unicron boxed for $15-20 (can't remember for sure) and some various Micromasters and Minicons. I'm always on the lookout for bits and pieces, and have even trained my daughter and gf what to look for. A HUGE find for me would be G1 Scorpy, any of the Max's, Cybertron Primus or Leader Optimus. Any of these would make me feel the hunt has been worthwhile.
Well, mine wasn't MISB and didn't cost me that little. I got mine complete with all paperwork and unapplied stickersheet but no box for $450. For me, that was a dream find. If I may be permitted to speak of a different toy line, my all time greatest dream find was a vintage Star Wars Blue Snaggletooth at a flea market for $10.
G1 Runabout and all the Mini Vehicles at a Garage Sale for $.25 apiece. Mostly just because I need Runabout for my Runamuck. I intend on making the 2 Battlechargers incompetent Beavis & Butthead type baddies for Megatron. It would also be nice to find some of the G1 throttlebots for cheap, too. Especially the Dump Truck (Which I actually had as a kid)
I don't know if this is considered a 'dream find' but every time I go into a store and find a short pack figure (PRID & FE Vehicons, Soundwave, Airachnid) it's a dream for me! LOL! I was at a shopping mall in my country when I overheard 2 males overtalking about scalping FE and PRID Vehicons and talking about making big $$$ for their lot. I was trying so hard not to laugh because back then, my 'sources' had informed me that there were going to restocks. True enough, FE Vehicons and PRID Soundwave are now commonly found everywhere in my country and once the wave 4 revision kicks in, PRID Vehicons will be more easily found.
Well, I know the Vehicon thread kinda derped things for a lot of sellers, but you could probably still make a few bucks with the FE Vehicons, and even Airachnid now that she's not released in the US yet.
If I were to find the following figures at retail and have enough money to buy them all... First Edition Starscream RTS Lugnut First Edition Cliffjumper DOTM Wheeljack DOTM Deluxe Soundwave DOTM Deluxe Leadfoot HFTD Battle Blades Prime HFTD Tomahawk DOTM Darksteel ROTF Mindwipe ROTF Skystalker ROTF Brawn RTS Outback/Fallback DOTM Spacecase DOTM Skywarp ...I'd be one happy dude.
If some kind (and stupid) soul would repackage a FE Cliffjumper in RiD packaging. Or if I found another Darksteel, just to taunt SeekerBlackout.
Generations at retail at a cost of less than it is to buy it from a scalper + shipping + handling + customs fees. Sounds like I'm setting the bar kinda low - but we don't have anything but main line at a cost of about $50 per deluxe :-(
Heck, right now, my dream finds would be PRID deluxe Knock Out and Arcee. Hard to believe how even they're rare over here. I do want Bulkhead more than any Transformer but I'm gonna wait till my birthday to see if it's available. If not, I'll be patient and wait till Christmas.
First Edition Optimus Prime and/or First Edition Bulkhead. I'm glad I got First Edition Starscream back in December when he was like $20 on Amazon and I don't really want the other First Edition Figures.
