hmm, maybe a more wider stance? also, T.Tomy's Arms Micron for PRID Bulkie is a little homage to the tubby G1 brick-former Grandus. how awesome is that?!

Although to me he has enough paint to be good.

Yeah, I don't really see any problems with his paint, except maybe his hands being beige instead of black.

PRID Bulkhead makes me think of a younger thinner version of the FE version.

FE Bulky is not the highest quality FE. It's just that people want it so much because it was short pack then later cancelled.

Your opinion is your own, but I do have to agree with the idea the FE is still better overall.

One of the major problems that I have with the mass release Bulkhead is that they managed to take the simplest weapon in the entire show and turned it into...some gimmick disco ball weapon. I mean, the FE didn't even have to try to get both the wrecking ball hand AND something passable for the arm blasters (the socket for the wrecking ball). This was my main gripe with mass-release Cliffjumper and why I ended up buying the FE, expensive as it was thanks to international shipping from Canada being a complete rip off.

Furthermore, one of the defining features of Prime Bulkhead is how his chest is formed. It's a complex layering of panels that look difficult to pull off on a toy, and the FE does it. Heck, the FE manages to reduce all the kibble down into tiny bits with nothing hanging off and nowhere to go. The mass release...not even close.

In terms of playability, the mass-release is the better choice as it looks simpler to transform and is close enough to the on-show model to please kids. The FE is more of a display piece that can be played with carefully (as in not slamming it against other figures to "fight"). As a collector, the latter interests me more.

I was gonna ask the same thing.

IMO, engineering trumps screen accuracy, and there's no arguing the FE is better engineered.

I will be getting the RID version myself, unless I can miraculously get the FE for under $60 (damned robotkingdom stole my preorder away from me). I do feel a bit better about it though knowing you can tear that garbage weapon apart and peg the mace into his hand.

This. I ended up getting the RID versions of Optimus and Cliffjumper mainly because, with the FE's in collector's item status, I don't want them to break should I want to convert them a few times. Granted i'm pretty careful with them, but i'm known to accidentally move something wrong and it ends with a snap.

The RID figures, while not as accurate, are just as fun to transform and fiddle with.

I also originally hated RID Bulkhead's design when the initial toy was on display at Toyfair. But after seeing reviews and better pictures, I'll be picking him up now. He's not on the same level as the FE, but he's good enough as a toy.

Same. I do plan on picking up the mass release simply to have a Bulkhead, but in the case I can acquire the superior FE then it's off to the customizing block for the PRID figure. His chest looks strikingly like how the G1 Trailbreaker figure had his chest, and the alt. mode is close enough that I think I could get away with making a Primeverse Trailbreaker from the mold.
