Corey didn't want to be in the film anyway. He probably didn't care; or, like me for example, he could've appreciated the great, well-written role Sentinel had as the true main antagonist, even at the expense of Shockwave being a red herring.

 

Probably not. He probably shrugged his shoulders, cashed his cheque, and moved on to the next job.

I think he's just annoywed with how everybody wants him to be Shockwave, since IIRC he's been quoted as having said he doesn't want to be Shockwave anymore.

And considering how much of a kiss-ass Megatron-loyalist his versions of the character are, he shouldn't have the right to complain anyway.

 

I think if Shockwave had been an actual character, with depth and some actual dialogue in the movie (I know, not going to happen in a Bay TF movie, but work with me), Corey Burton probably would have signed on to do it. But I don't blame him for saying pass (if he was even approached at all, can't really remember) if the only thing they wanted him to say was "Op-ti-mussssssss....." and jibberish.

 

He probably cares more about what you had for breakfast, and well...

 

I doubt Shockwave's role was even finalized by the time they contact Burton.

In fact, Burton probably din't do Shockwave simply because, as he said himself, he justdidn't want to. And Shockwave's hardly a character Burton would be concerned about how he was portrayed. Burton has far more famous and memorable characters.

Who would want to be known only for being only shockwave? Sir Alec Guinness didn't want to be known only for being Obi-Wan despite his other performances, yet people still did. Mr. Burton didn't even like being shockwave in that gamestop commercial for WFC.
