Hasbro designs the transformer movie toys using the very earliest concept art and then the toys arent usually accurate... And when official art comes out they make more. Then you have to buy another figure.

    Does this bother you?

Non-informative thread titles are still a sin.

There's no reason to get bothered about it if you know how it works. Don't buy the first figure. Or, don't buy the second figure with its marginal improvement.

It sure does suck when toy designers forget to use their time machine to jump into the future to get the final design, huh?

Is Hasbro/Takara supposed to whip designs out overnight? No, they have to work on concept art and get the toy designs going.

Or do you expect the movie team to doggedly stick to early designs, even if something might be better?

I go for movie accuracy too, but we are three movies in and we know that nearly every figure gets different things right. All you have to do is be prudent. The situation you refer to can hardly change or else we wouldn't get any toys.

If anything, DotM seems to help the problem...the very first waves are largely new takes on old characters, and many of the new characters are in later waves (so they have more time to get them right). As for the new molds of old characters, I would say only one is an unambiguous improvement (Ratchet). So just keep that wallet closed.

I wouldn't say the accuracy of the toys bother me all that much. Do they look alot LIKE what we see on the screen? Yes, they do (usually, anyway), and that's enough for me. However, asking for PERFECT accuracy is asking for a lot since in the end these things still need to be made into toys, and what can be done in the movie isn't actually feasable at a smaller scale since all the main product toys need to, y'know, transform. With DOTM at least they've done this twice before and had years to refine how they can make toys as accurate as possible without sacrificing details.

I think they ran out of plutonium. Trying to pass off bombs filled with pinball machine parts to steal the stuff from terrorists doesn't work like it did back in the 80's.

This, seriously. There are FAR, far too many threads with these kinds of titles.
With a title like this one, I was expecting to see Gears chewed up by dogs or blenders or something.

Anyways, it evidently can take up to a year to make a toy (what with all the engineering and whatnot), and character designs are always subject to change within production. HasTak can't use the final, finished renders if they want to get those toys out in time for the movie.

EDIT: Simply translating render-->toy naturally cuts back a lot of accuracy, too, particularly since the Movie TFs have ridiculously complex transformations (I'm still at a lost as to where Rampage's dozer blade goes).

Hasbro is far from the only toy company that does this. And the movie line is far from the first to have this happen (BW mutant heads, much?).

You know what grinds my gears? The fact that I can't get a refund on this thread.

Seriously though, and like others in here have already suggested, this really seems like an issue of needed patience. I honestly don't know what else to say at this point.
