I finally got the YOTH Optimus Prime and swapped some parts to make my MP-10 look better. I would have preferred my Optimus to have darker reds and blues but I do not like the gold chrome and the black sections of the YOTH figure. So the best I could do was to just swap the blues. Just unscrew the figure apart but be careful not to lose any tiny screws and the tiny ratchet pieces inside the hips and remember where they all go when you put them pack together. The hardest and nerve wrecking part was swapping the chrome tanks because that requires removing pins. You have to hammer out the right end and you have a 50/50 shot of getting it right. What sucks even more is that you may have to heat the pin to soften it to make it easier to hammer out. Still, I am happy with my MP-10 and I think it also makes the YOTH Optimus look better too. This is on Ebay until Sunday night. Just click on the link under my avatar.
That's a smart move. Now you've got a more G1 Prime and a better looking YOTH Prime that you could just sell if you wanted. No need to pay top dollar for the Takara MP-10 now.
More pics! I also swapped the gray and black pieces from the crane section in the back. A LOT of screws to keep track of so be careful when taking them apart and putting it back together. I think the gray looks blends nicely with the clear plastic and the black pieces look better with the blues and grays of the MP-10 trailer.
Can't. Some blue pieces are part of the vent so it would not match. I thought I could swap them. The best thing I could do is just touch it up with paint. I'm not gonna do that.
YOTH prime annoys me but you've improved it emmensly! Love the blue on the deep red. The Gray on the clear trailer softens the look and blends it much better better, well done.
Looks so much better without the gold ! I missed out on the regular colored MP 10 (never seen him in toys r us....dam scalpers) , just got YOTH Prime . (Can't afford him any other way) I'm thinking I'm gonna buy a MP 10B to switch out the chrome parts for gold parts and sell the pimped out MP 10B to re-coupe my money from buying the MP10B . (azdragon85 did something like this for a customer) After a little bit of painting on Prime himself I'll have a MP 10 that I can live with .
No no no... no no no no no... Darnit, you're making me want to spend the cash on this version of Prime just so I can have that amazing looking setup on the original Hasbro MP10! Great job on it, I never even considered if this could be done!
Swapping the parts makes MP-10 look much better. Unfortunately, nothing will help YOTH not look like a KO figure.
All Hasbro had to do was give this guy silver chrome and get rid of that ugly YOTH/autobot symbol on the right shoulder and a traditional symbol on the left and BOOM! The perfect MP-10. Anyway, I have the YOTH with the light blue on Ebay right now until Sunday night. Just the figure though. Just click under my avatar.
On the original mp prime it was possible to remove the black battle paint hasbro applied with rubbing alcohol and elbow grease. I did it way back when with no issues to this day. I was messing with my yoth prime and noticed spots where the chrome was not gold. Namely the insides of the smoke stacks. I think it may be possible to remove the gold color with alcohol and leave shiney chrome. Atm i am a bit preoccupied with minecraft but i will eventually get off my ass and try. Just some food for thought for anyone else whos willing to try.
