The black nosecone and wing trim is certainly different, but looks good!

This is actually one of the cheaper ways to do the custom. The coloring on the body is done with Sharpie markers. (blush) It's just a standard blue one for the body and a metallic one for the knees, chest sides, etc.

The stripes are car pinstriping. I bought silver and also used a red Sharpie on some of the silver striping to get both colors.

I actually tried to dye Starscream first (see added picture in first post) but it only took to the thighs, shoulder backs and wing connectors.

That's not bad. Is it possible to "recoat" with the blue sharpie to fill in some of the areas?

Yes, I'll probably be doing that some more. Most of the uneven patches weren't visible to my eyes, only in the macro photos :)  But then again I don't have very good lighting where I did most of the work, either.

I'm guessing the plastic is taking the sharpie? No rub off? I mean, I realize these are permanent and all.

Yep, the plastic looks to be taking the sharpie well.

I think I actually got the idea originally from someone a long time ago on the tfans/tformers forum who'd gotten a bunch of KO Robot Masters Starscreams and did them up in different colors.

Yeah a cool way to do metallic colors is use a silver or chrome paint and sharpie over it with a color. I did it to universe Galvatrons knees and they are a nice metallic red now.

Does the Sharpie thing really work well? And does it last? I tried to repaint my Starscream into TC and parts of it came out well, but some parts bubbled badly. The project's been in limbo for a while, partly because I haven't had much time and partly because I don't know where to go from here. I can't seem to get the paint off him.
