Just heard on XM that they are remaking Hellraiser.

Clive Barker is writing the script but not directing.

Some of the remakes have been cool, but I see no point in this one.

BTW, this HiFi SciFi on Cinemagic rules. They are playing the creepy-ass Phantasm music.

    BOYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

I must be old. The movies of my youth are now being remade. I am sad now.

hmmm interesting. Well I'm all for it. Psycho sucked cause remaking Hitchhok is just asking to make inferior material to make Hitchhok laugh in his grave.

TCM was good imho, beats all of the crappy sequels. I mean Dennis Hopper, then Kirtsie Alley I mean wtf lol.

While I think Halloween is in good hands with Rob Zombie and they're getting rid of that whole druid shit.

Then we got a Friday the 13th as well which will be more like the first two and have Jason in a hockey mask since he never got it until 3.

Just gimme a NOEM remake with Wes Craven producing, writing or directing. One of the 3.

Would be neat if they filled the soundtrack up with old metal tunes from JPriest, Iron Maiden, etc

It's Pinhead OMFG Run to Teh Hills

    Oh gawd.
The last 'original' horror movie gets a make-over. Bad enough the original was mutilated with badly dubbed American accents (from people walking around London no less!) but now this....

Oh my GOD no, it fucking wouldn't.
As pure a horror movie as Hellraiser doesn't need things like that; Hellraiser 3 had Motorhead, and it added nothing.
Hellraiser remains, over 20 years on, one of the greatest horror movies ever made. Until then, the monsters came and found you; in Hellraiser, YOU called THEM. That's what made them so disturbing; everything that happened was your fault. Not in the sense that Freddy or Jason would go find kids engaging in casual sex, or doing drugs (let's not kid ourselves that most movies like that are anything but thinly disguised morality tales), but in the sense that YOU made whatever happened next happen. Of course, that didn't preclude the innocent from getting drawn in. No-one was really safe, but not because some retard in a mask was on the rampage.
Then there's the Cenobites themselves; they are, to my mind, the greatest horror movie monsters ever created. An entire legion of monsters created because of their own desires. In Hellraiser, very few people are truly innocent; and if they aren't, they get what they deserve one way or another. Compare that with the cheesy & ,pointless hack-and-slash Freddy/Jason flicks. They're not horror; they're comedy. And poor comedy at that.
The perfect horror doesn't need theme songs, or a trendy soundtrack, in the slightest.
Then again, a perfect horror movie NEVER needs remaking either.
Hellraiser is as close to a modern day fairy tale as a horror movie can get. It doesn't need remaking.
    Ever.
I can't wait to totally miss this with extreme prejudice.

I couldn't have said it better - Look to HELLRAISER III for some indication as to what a American-centric remake of the first may look like *shudder*. I have nothing against the American film industry, but some things just won't work that way. HELLRAISER won't go 'Hollywood' any more than a British remake of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE would work.

But I still wish they'd release a DVD version which loses the American dubbing....

While this is not a movie that I thought needed to be remade, it could be kind of cool. At least Clive Barker is involved on some level.

While i'm generally against remakes, the fact that Clive Barker is involved bodes well. We'll see.

But Barker both wrote and directed the original. How could a remake be anything but less than his original vision, even if he does write it?

I would have to say that today's horror movie technology is better than 1987's, so visually, this could actually be closer to what Barker had envisioned. Also, what was up with the dragon at the end of the movie? Did that make sense to anyone? They could totally drop that.

These are, however, moot points when compared to the fact that I want a well made Weaveworld movie.

I don't why they are remaking Hellraiser when they have so many other Clive Barker works that could be made into a movie.

I want to see The Great and Secret Show damnit!

WEAVEWORLD!! Yes! The majority of the book was set around where I live (including a car chase through the Mersey Tunnel!), but you can bet a movie wouldn't be....:mad

I'm pretty sure Kristie Alley wasnt in any of the TCM movies. HOwever, I think remakes are almost pointless, seriously whats the point other than to make some money and ruin a franchise.
