I have a feeling it's so the Decepticon get Breakdown's body back even though you could have written it so they just find his corpse.

 

Because Mech still had Breakdown. Without the Silas-Breakdown story, the Autobots and Decepticons never get to find out what happened to Breakdown, and the Decepticons never realize just how dangerous humans are.

Look, I wanted to believe there was some grand story where Breakdown was still alive but in stasis, and we'd get him and Silas fighting for control of the body. But it didn't happen. And it never will. In Prime, dead is dead. And both are dead. They are not going to appear again outside of flashbacks or zombies.

 

Well the addition of Shockwave does crack the door open a little for Break/Cylasdown to return.

 

What if Megs mixed DARK energon and Syn-Energon?

 

You'd get super powered zombies.

 

Or how about Synth-En, Dark-En, and Red-En. That would be the end of all three factions remaining factions.

 

Basically, hyper-speedy super-strength evil zombies, all under Megatron's control.

Hopefully, three different Energon-types in one body might end up cancelling each other out or destroying the body itself, which should save us all from hyper-speedy super-strength evil zombie doom  

 

I don't really see how since Knock-out was given the go ahead to dissect Cylas Breakdown. The most I think we'll see is maybe a cut away shot of parts a bits here or there in different levels of "dissection".

If we do see him again it might be as some sort of Frankenstein type deal. You know Shockwave and all. That guy sure loves his experiments. :shudders
