Yeeesh, all the more reason for me to hope this project never gets off the ground. The Beatles rode in a trippy 2DYellow Submarine, not the Polar Express.
No, they get most of them right. When they dabble into 3D animation or make stupid direct-to-DVD sequels, then Disney get's it wrong (the non-Pixar 3D movies). They don't realize they should stick to 2D animation and let Pixar handle the 3D. And the new Christmas Carol with Jim Carrey looks like a perfectly fine horror movie. They might not have set out to make a horror movie, but their 3D animators certainly made it look like one.
Update! Yellow Sub. gets a cast! The Beatles Yellow Submarine Movie: Gets A Cast And 3D CGI | Before It's News I agree, it could be great if done right. (Albeit, I'm biased, I love the Beatles)
This project was sent to limbo, where it may never come out. However, some CGI footage was produced before shelving. https://www.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/ns5zv1/in_2009_disney_started_working_on_a_3d_mocap_cgi/
It's nice pre-work, especially for 10 years ago, but I think in hindsight I prefer the original to stand alone. I could justify an live-action version with heavy CGI for all the fantastical elements, but maybe we're better off without a remake. The original is a trip to behold, go see it if you haven't already (saying that to the board in general, not QLRformer individually).
