After spending more than 13 and a half hours as a member of the election commitee for election post 135 in my hometown of Niš, monitoring the second round of the president elections as a representative of the Democratic Party, I'm virtually dead. I'm numb all over. I won't go into all the meaty details of this interesting day, as I can't think straight.

So all I'm gonna say is YEEEES, WE WON, GO BORIS TADIĆ!!

Tomislav Nikolić, eat your heart out!! We won on election post 135 and all the election posts for the my Local community (136, 137, 138). There are results still coming in, but unofficially, Boris Tadić has won the president elections of 2008.

I don't see how Serbia's elections will cause flaming or debate's.

Politics are BORING (to me, at least. Your excitement may vary).

    And against the rules.

Then again, I hate football and couldn't give a flip about the superbowl, so apparently I'm just strange.

Give me some slack people. I can't describe how me, my family and our friends feel right now. It's the same old feeling from Y2K and 2001, when we kicked Milošević in the ass. The feeling of success and anticipation (we still have a lot of work ahead).

Did any bothered to look at the links above?? Or do most people in the west think that world revolves around them?

I think you nailed it right there, unfortunately. Congrats to you, I say. I'm hoping for a similar feeling this November.

Boris Tadić is a Pro European candidate with strong russian support at the moment.

The opponent candidate Tomislav Nikolić has been declaring himself prior to this elections as a strong anti-west politician (in his campaign for this elections, he turned coat and was talking about building strong ties with EU, as he said it), but in all honesty, he'd sell his own mother just to get the position of power and stay there.

    Thank you! :D

Hmm..this kid of brings new developements to the "Kosovo problem". Bear in mind I´m against any kind of indepence, cause that would bring a hole new set of problems in Europe.

I agree, if Kosovo Albanians get independence, it will open a whole new can of worms. This problem is still for bigger minds, able to grasp long term effects.

What do we gain and loose if Kosovo Albanians get independence?

We loose our cultural heritage and our "thirteen colonies" if you know what I mean. Albanian tourist agencies have allready started promoting our monasteries and churches as their own (which is funny because majority of them are muslims, and the monasteries date from the early Serbian kingdom in medieval ages).

What do we get?? Still in the unknown. That's why we won't let it go.

In all honesty, let the big countries aknowledge Kosovo as indepedent, and then try to deal with Bascia in Spain, Corsica in Italy, North Ireland, and lets not forget Epirus in Greece and the west Macedonia which have Albanians in majority in those regions (but are considered minority).

EDIT: And I'm out of political conversion from this moment.
You guys and gals wanna see some pics from the celebration we organized on the main square??

Kosovo needs Serbia. I mean I studied about them and from what i learn they have zero to gain from getting independece. Their economy is weak, they have no type of industry and other stuff, they have a very serious problem with corruption, etc. Heck they are closer to a micro state that an actual nation. Point is they won´t be able to survive as a nation by themselfs.

And then there is the whole Serbia cultural identity and the fact you have a major road that crosses Kosovo if I´m not mistaken.

    My 2cents

As we would say "you're pulling my tongue". I know I said I won't talk politics, but I'll ask a question that bothers us, just as well as the ones I mentioned above. Do we need a close to 2 million Albanians and the overdeveloped albanian mafia in our country (you mention corruption, but it's the ties to crime lords that's the main issue)? As I hear, that mafia is seriously encroaching on the Italians in North America, and is the leading mafia in Europe.

That road goes through an east part of Kosovo, not the whole of it.
