After months of drooling over the 1:48 Yamatos that CdnShockwave and Razerwire among others have posted, I finally took the Yamato plunge! The UPS guy just dropped it off 10 minutes ago and...Behold:

OK I opened him up and the level of DETAIL that Yamato puts into these things is UNREAL. I can't believe I've been missing out on these for sooo long. I'm definitely going to be humming the Robotech theme song all day. :ev:  This will definitely keep me busy until MP-03 Starscream shows up!

I'd just like to get one that is in G1 Jetfire colors. That way I could just add some autobot reprolabels and have the next best thing to a reissue. Now I know they aren't gonna cooperate with Has/Tak to do an official reissue, but if they did some sort of special that just happened to be in those colors. :thumb

That's the only way I'd get one. Yes, I know. I'm dreaming.

Well, your best bet is probably a VF-1S Hikaru. It's got the red/white/black colourscheme so it's probably the closest thing to "Jetfire" you'll get. I'm sure it wouldn't be THAT hard to mod it into Jetfire. Someone actually did that not too long ago, it looked great! So there's definitly potential there.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Yamato.

Here's my small collection (believe me....compared to what I've seen it's tiny).

That's nice, but I was thinking along the lines of the 1/55 scale. That way it uses the exact same mold as Jetfire. That is more of a "classics" ( as I'd like to see classics ) upgrade than a reissue.

    Aren't they awesome?

I remember back in 2002 I was hearing about these soon to come 1/48s and drooling all over the place. I ended up buying 1/60ths to tide me over and burnt myself out on it before the 1/48 showed up.

A couple weeks back I got my first 1/48 finally, and I've been kicking myself ever since for waiting so long. Got the super/strike parts and a stand coming for it as we speak. I like the cleaner look of the 1/48 Hikaru VF-1J type. I love the J head, and the lack of black on it really looks nice in my mind. Only thing I have left to find now is the heavy-armor and I'll have everything I wanted.

At least, until I get ready to pick up one of those stealth J types that just came out. These things are like FX lightsabers. No one can buy just one of them.

I like reissues because I'm getting the toy in brand new condition. To get a Jetfire like that, I'd have to buy a MISB one. Even at that, some of the MISB ones have yellowing. Do you know how many hundreds of dollars a mint Jetfire would go for? A reissue would be cheaper.
