Just heard over at MW that the next toy in Yamato's Macross lineup will be the SV-51 in the 1/60 scale. That's all I know. Rejoice all yee Macross Zero fans!

Here are some pix I snagged. It's not of the Yamato version, but a model kit someone did. Just so you get an idea of what the SV-51 looks like. Its jet mode kicks ass, although it's gerwalk and batroid mode are a little lacking if you ask me.

    No fuckin way!!!

I can't believe it, that is some awesome news. I can't wait to see the first pics.

edit: If you haven't seen Macross Zero yet, do yourself a favor and pick it up. It has some of the sickest dogfights ever shown in anime.

Eesh. You guys go for it, I'll just wait a bit longer for the 11 and the 0D.

And, mecha gods willing, the VF-4. (Everyone gets a pipe dream, dig?)

Nope. Thanks to Harmony Gold we'll probably never see a DVD release here. The only way to get it is through Hong Kong DVDs on eBay or download a fansubbed version. I watched AnimeOne/ANBU fansub and I trust their translating because I've watched about 150 eps of their Naruto fansubs. The story is average, but the animation is excellent and warrants a watch for it alone.

And to get an even better idea of what it'll be like, here's a custom 1/72 Hasegawa kit that's fully transformable.

I really like the SV-51. One of the more unique looking Macross mechs. The fighter mode is fantastic, possibly my favorite fighter mode of any Macross mech.

I found the first few episodes of Macross Zero on youtube in a surprisingly good fandub, and the rest is on there in fansub form. It's worth watching.

You won't be able to fully appreciate the action scenes when watching in the low resolution of Youtube, FWIW.

Yeah I have an ebay version, it was like $15, really cheap. And MasterOfPuppets is right, this has some cg dogfights that you really want to see up close, they are wild. I would go as far as to say they might be the best fight scenes I've seen in any Macross. I've never seen cg integrated into regular anime so cleanly. I would definitely recommend it.

Man I was hoping the SV-51 was coming after the VF-0S release. "This will be the largest variable fighter toy made by Yamato so far.", that is awesome and its supposed to release in black color first!

Gerwalk mode is pretty awesome, I'll admit. Very, um, grabby-looking.

The SV-51 is certainly interesting in that it's a completely different design lineage than the UN series. But what can I say, I've always preferred the VF-1 and her derivatives.

Aside: I wonder if the SV in SV-51 isn't meant to stand for Sukhoi Variable. Sukhoi does seem to have taken over from MiG as the pre-eminent Eastern fighter design bureau.

Stop it Yamato! How am I supposed to afford BotCon this year with you pulling crap like the YF-19 and this beauty? I'd honestly go broke if I bought as many of them as I'd want.
