The joints feel nice and tight. As Encline said, while the arms are very sturdy feeling and the plastic is thick, they are not heavy.

The more I stare at this thing the more I love it! If I didn't know the black one was coming down the line, I'd buy a second to paint up in a heartbeat!!

The addition of God Bomber to this set is going to be incredible!

 

Going to combine mine with the G1 Powermaster Prime. Looks odd without the Hi-Q attachment (for Classics prime, I mean)

 

Wait there IS a black one down the line? That'll be great for my Wonderfest Black Convoy!

Thanks to you and encline for the responses on the arms, I feel very reassured. I did not like the slim silhouette at first but when watching some Masterforce Clips, Super Ginrai IS actually fairly slender like that in the cartoon!

 

man those are some great pics, definitely temping me, but the price still seems to steep for me. If I was a bigger fan of pm prime, I would probably jump on this in a heartbeat.

Xovergen Trailerforce: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

I just got the set. I hope you won't mind if I post my thoughts on this thread instead of creating another one.

THE GOOD:

He's big and looks pretty awesome...



Especially with the god armor  



Now all I have to do is find him/kitbash better wings.

THE BAD:

Now there's no ONE bad thing about this figure, no one deal breaker. Even if I never had or had a chance to fiddle with Grand Patriot, I'm pretty sure that this is several times better than that. But there are small things--and by small I don't mean nitpicks--that when you add up can be VERY frustrating. Some of these things have already been mentioned by encline in his video review, so there.

1) The hip ratchets seems to be too tight out of the box. Upon receiving the item, my seller immediately advised me to loosen one screw on each of his upper thighs. When I got home, I did, and that seem to have solved the issue with the hip ratchets.

2) Minor QC problems out of the box. Scratches that my camera is unable to capture. Stray paint here.



3) This forefoot joint right here needs a ratchet badly. So the entire foot is made up of two pieces joined by a hinge. The problem is that even when he's just standing, the hinge gives under his weight and he topples forward. Would have been better if the foot is just one piece, or the joint had a ratchet.



He's more stable if you use a wider stance where the feet are more splayed, like this.



4) The way the guns peg to the hands were designed and executed very poorly. First, it's a pain to peg the gun to the hand because you won't be able to see anything, the hand slot is on the heel of the hand; it's like groping in the dark. And when you do get a gun pegged, and get the fingers to grip it, the hold is still not very secure. For the life of me, i don't know why they did not just use a mechanism that was already known to work (such as a simple peg on the gun handle and a compatible hole on the palm) instead of coming up with a poorly designed one?



5) Poorly executed knee ratchets. From a straight leg, the next click takes the lower leg a significant way back, and the next and last click only a bit further. So from straight position, one and a half clicks to fully bent.







6) The bottom part of the shoulder guns get in the way of the back part of the blue forearm guard when bending at the elbow.



7) This lower leg weapon (?) likes to flop down.





8) This bit where the head is connected should be colored red, like in the test shots.



AND I HAVEN'T EVEN TRANSFORMED HIM YET

THE UGLY:

Despite these issues, I still love the figure. But ONLY because:

1) I am an Optimus fan and I collect Optimus Primes; AND
2) I am a very big Powermaster Prime fan; AND
3) I got a good deal for this set. I paid less than 150 USD.

So I hope now you know what to expect if you are getting this figure.

Despite being somewhat satisfied by this set, I'm very disappointed by Xovergen. It seems that while they have have improved and learned a lot of things since Grand Patriot, they have not learned enough: they're still fucking amateurs. This is going to be the last figure that I buy from them; there are far better 3rd party and even official figures out there that deserve my patronage.

 

Follow up: Some of the BADs above make him fiddly, and that's what's SO frustrating. This guy should not be fucking fiddly!!!

If the trailer mode actually had some trailer details on the side and was grey with the blue stripe, I'd bite. Not so sure about it as is.

 

Plastic quality seems okay, comparable to MT/FP plastic.

 

Just curious since you didn't mention it: Did you try both guns in each hand? I seem to recall reading or watching a review that stated the peg on the guns was slightly off center and meant to specifically go in either the left or right hand.

Er, I don't think its fair to count that as a "bad." You can have an opinion sure but the fact that its blue over red? That's just personal preference.
