Thanks! That certainly is.....interesting. I'm glad the drone does something more than role around.
Nothing about the floppy turrets? The hitch part that always wants to come off?
I only want the greeen one... probably will never own it due to these being sold as sets.
Nice pics! Thanks for sharing!
Robot Kingdom sells them individually. I got mine from them.
Hitch part is fine on this one and the green one we checked out.
Floppy turrets is a good point, I've added that in.
Had to do a fix a few minutes ago: the screw holding the ball joint couldn't hold it anymore, the ball joint was sliding out. Just superglued the ball joint to the piece it's supposed to sit on. I must say the robot mode is more solid now that I figured out the backpack thing correctly. The legs are still floppy at the knees though. Do you have creaking hip ball joints?
Yeah they creak like an old mans hip replacement
I know what you mean about the backpack, it had me swearing like mad last night until I figured out it could pivot and slide in on itself for proper alignment.
Which balljoint are you talking about ? and with your floppy knee problem have you snapped them into place properly ?
^ I've got the same creaky hip joints and loose knees (where they bend). I tried to tighten the knee screws but they're as tight as they'll go.
I'm glad I haven't read any reports of parts breaking yet - it makes me less worried about handling the thing.
Is that a speaker in the middle of the chest for some noise gimmick? Every time I see these I think it is, and forget to ask.
EDIT - should note, I realize it's not, but it definitely looks like the slots for one. Fugly design overall for a cool concept. Hope someone else does a closer version to the artwork someday.
Not a speaker, you just put the matrix behind that panel.
On mine the flop occurs around the square plates that go up and down in the legs.
How much is this thing?
About $85 plus shipping.
looks good any day now hell be here at my door
edit they came in today
Easy Pass for me. I think they could have done better in the shoulders area. Only foward and backwards is lame for what can be done now with toys and the price is too expensive for something so so.
The shoulders move outward as well. It's not the best range, no, but it's more than forward and back.
Looks like my initial negative reaction was correct, wish it wasn't, but to me this is an easy pass.
The main sticking point is the head, they both look fugly. And the proportions aren't to my liking. It just seems it would be so easy to make this look cool, especially with the artwork they ripped it from. With the Stiff competition from FP and other unliscenced 3rd party products there isnt really any excuse.
This looks like something I would see in a $2 shop. I would buy it for the novelty value if it was less than $50 but no way am I paying $180 for two.
This is 2011, 10 years ago this could have impressed.
Well I will pass now. Not worth $80.00 IMO.
