Normally I wouldn't support a merger like this, but I think it is for the best.

Isn't "HD radio" or something the new thing anyway?

You get what you pay for I guess. The best station that I have found however is from Minnesota Public radio. It's called the Current. A very large variety of music from college rock and alternative, to jazz, to blue grass, to hip-hop. With only the brief occasional sponsorship mention, no ads. Plus the heavily promote local bands.

Satellite and HD radio are tempting, but at this point I would rather donate money to MPR. It just feels like a better sense of community, which is what I think radio should be more about.

Does anyone else have a really strong public radio station in your state?

The Current IS a good station. Not always my thing, but they have a good variety. I've heard some good stuff on there I've never heard anywhere else.

same here. Philadelphia has a great selection of non commercial radio. NPR on WHYY, its where Terry Gross hosts Fresh Air. Temple 91.1 plays a great selection of Jazz at ngiht. Plus my favorite radio statio is 88.5 XPN who has the greatest music show, "The World Cafe".

I've got XM and as long as nothing changes as far as what I listen to, I don't care.

i've been wanting to get serius since i cut off my satilite a while back. they had serius for free w/the satilite. the main reason i want satilite radio is there is only 1 or 2 good hard rock stations around where i live, and when i travel to my parrents hsouse (fairly often) i can't get any of them.

As long as my Sirius is relatively the same, I'm good. The bonus would be the ability to listen to Ron and Fez from XM.
