Yeah, I had a good laugh about this article over the phone with one of my buds at Microsoft earlier today. I'm really not exaggerating when I say that more pure bullshit gets printed about Microsoft than any other company.

Anyway, if you guys are curious about exactly why Vista was delayed a few weeks, it's because they decided to implement a containment system for breaches in the network stack. To put it very simply, if a malicious entity passes malformed headers to the stack, it barfs, and based on the severity (and user input, if applicable) a couple of monitoring services may shut it down, to prevent disaster. It was originally slated to be released with a later update, but most of it was already written, and over the course of a week the developers involved were able to convince senior management to let them put it in.

All the hatred directed at them is but fuel for their engines of world conquest. :)

Nah, with the exception of the Xbox 360 and keyboards/mice, hardware's never been their thing. Their buying power is really obscene, though; the size of their assets makes them eligible for an unbelievably huge loan, and if they actually took it out, the U.S. economy would reeeeally not like it.

    All 10 of them?

Still, i'm sure they need something to distract themselves from the blatant display of hypocrisy that Apple are putting on in France at the moment.

You'd probably die before you got to enjoy it much, but oh well.

I'm actually siding with Apple on that one, because France's position on the matter reminds me all too much of the stupid crap the EU's pulling against Microsoft on behalf of all the companies that couldn't compete worth shit. If Apple wants to tie its DRMed songs to the iPod, so be it. Use another service.

It is hypocritical nevertheless, seeing as how they were one of the original plaintiffs in the MS/EU saga.

Thats the view I have on it, but i'm certainly not bigging up the French considering that thier government are the biggest bunch of market hypocrites in Europe.
