    Finally!
Starting in November you can buy a family pack of four Gold memberships for $100 and even split them up among consoles.

    It's about time, Microsoft.
My daughter is wanting a membership and there is no way that I was going to pay $150\year.

    Quit the posturing.
Your love for Smang and Boardwise is such that you will do this.
    You know it.

Smang will repay you with blueberry pancakes, too.
Because he hasn't discovered the cranberry yet.

Cranberry? Does Twist have a bladder infection?

I'm all about the raspberries and strawberries.

I have some serious questions about how it will validated purchased content.
For instance, if I purchased Castle Crashers on the home console with the master account then I fully expect my kid to be able to DL and play it on another console.
Likewise, if I give him 800 MS points on his account and he purchases a game on any console I fully expect to be able to play the game he purchased on my account on any console.
After all, I paid for it.

I wonder what kind of a poo-poo storm Microsoft might be creating here.

It shouldn't work like that at all.

All they're doing is giving you a break on buying bulk Gold accounts. They're your standard Gold accounts, but yeah, all tied to 1 bank/credit card.

I set up a friend's account in my name since he's a bit paranoid. Should I have access to all the stuff he downloaded and bought since the account is in my name? No. Not at all.

But that is sort of how it works now.
If I buy Castle Crashers and then I go Prowl’s house and we want to play it I just DL it again, and as long as I’m logged into Xbox Live we have the full game.
Once I leave and my account is no longer there all he has is the trial game and some stains on his carpet.

The point is, I paid for the game and as long as I can log into Live and verify that it’s me then I can play it anywhere.

I’m not sure exactly what you mean by you have a friend’s account in your name but it seems like you’re not linked to his account.
But the Family Pack accounts are all linked.
The subaccounts can’t pay for anything until the master account doles out the money.
Therefore whatever the subaccount used the money on should be available for the master account as well because the master account paid for it.
Conversely, whatever the master account buys should be available for the subaccounts absent any parental rating restriction.

I can see some serious outcry if a kid buys a game and then the parent or the other siblings can’t play it.
Or what if the parent thinks that the new Family Game Night addition looks like the kids will enjoy it, he or she downloads it, but then the kids can’t play it?

OH! my bad! wow, sorry... I didn't read the part about the subaccounts not being able to buy like that...

Hey kids... reading is fundamental... and VITAL for making discussions flow.

    Carry on.
