We did? Sorry, I don't see how this will affect my Xbox's present duties as a doorstop.

Should have been a bit specific. :p  I meant to say "We, who enjoy playing Xbox Live on Original Xboxes, knew this day would come."

I'm sorry for those of you who still do such, but how many could it really be? A few thousand at best?

My deepest sympathies to the modders, hackers, laggers, and general douchebags who still populate the Halo 2 multiplayer field. May you all burn in the Special Hell reserved for your ilk, line cutters, and those douchebag telemarketers who won't take a fucking hint.

I'd say it had a damn good run. Can't expect them to keep it going forever.

I just wish they'd still let X-Box games play on live, I'll miss Halo 2 :(

I remember back when I still used my original xbox there was a way I played online that had nothing to do with xbox live. It was some program that I had to run on my computer that connected the xbox to some server somewhere.

My xbox was hacked, though, so it may not be available to unhacked xboxes.

A friend of mine did that. I want to say the name of the program was "Kai" or something like that. I think I remember him mentioning it alot when he played.

I used one of those programs for a while, it actually worked with un-modded X-Boxes. There are a few original games that I had been meaning to get for my 360 that I would have liked to play on Live. Like Crimson Skies and Mech Assault. Hoping for some 360 updates on those soon.

Just out of morbid curiosity - Is Halo 2 actually a better multiplayer game then Halo 3 and Halo YMCA, or do folks still play it because they are too whiney and/or cheap to move on?

Try a few hundred thousand. Halo 2 still gets massive numbers every single month.
