With the upcoming holidays and new systems coming out(PS3 and Wii) I was wondering if now is a good time to get an XBox 360. As far as the PS3 goes I'm gonna wait until next year I was just wondering how the 360 is working for you guys?

I have it and am enjoying it. My main gripe is Xbox Live Arcade. This should be the most awesome thing ever and MS keeps screwing around with "release dates" instead of letting companies just get their stuff up there. Right out of the gate Sony will be pretty much on par and Nintendo will trump the 360 in terms of downloadable games. The 360 is posed to be one of the most amazing experiences ever, but only if MS can pull themselves together long enough to realize it.

I'm leaning towards the 360 since it's relatively cheaper than the PS3, and and the turnoff about Nintendo is that they make more games towards kids which is understandable. And Gears of War looks pretty cool and from what I've read in the boards it's quite a hell of a ride.

**Hey Joe, where do you get those animated pictures? I don't wanna copy yours but I'd like to get something like that.

I usually just come across them from various other sites. Search google for "animated gifs thread" and you should have no problem finding some.

The 360 is pretty solid...I had my doubts prior to picking it up, I was not thrilled about it prior to launch and had no desire to own one.

As time progressed I heard an abundance of good things, besides the issues with the red ring of death and all...After I couldn't wait anymore I pounced.

Overall the system, and the overhaul on XBL is vastly superior to the previous Xbox...The incorporation of XBL Arcade, achievements and such pushes the gaming experience further. I definitely would pick one up if you are considering it.

    Just my $0.02

I just picked one up on Saturday and so far I am very impressed with it. I love that I can turn the machine on and off from my wireless controller.

Now if someone could figure out how to change games without leaving the couch...

And my wife absolutely loves Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

If you get a chance, try Gears of War. You will buy a 360 on the spot. Yes, it's that good.

What's the "red ring of death"? And how's Marvel Ultimate Alliance?

I have heard good things about gears of war. Is it gonna be like halo in the sense that it will never go to another console?

The red ring of death is when the green lights on your console turn red. It means your system is f'ed. Have yet to play MUA.

I originally picked up a 360 just to play Oblivion. Before that, I wasn't too impressed with the 360. After I got it, and, and have played quite a few games on it, I can honestly say it rocks. :)

Gears of War is published by Microsoft Game Studios. It is an Xbox 360 exclusive and the subsequent series is exclusive to Microsoft.

Did the Red Ring thing happened with the launch day 360's or any at random?

I haven't had a chance to play MUA neither, I wanna play FF3 for DS before anything else though. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting a 360 for myself as an X-Mas present so I'm just gettin feedback as to how the system runs and what games I should start off with.

Mine lasted for a a good 3/4 of a year before it went the way of the red ring of death. Piece of junk.

When you do get one, don't go with the basic system.

I've had the red ring only once on my system, and i've had it for about 7 months. I was lucky though, all I had to do was unplug the system, and then plug it back in, and it worked fine.

The way I see it is I'm not gonna try to get a PS3. For starters I'd have to miss work in order to wait out in the cold in order to buy something which I'm not guaranteed to get in the 1st place, with how much the PS3 costs I can get a 360, Gears of War, and Sonic the Hedgehog, and have a little left over for pizza and porn.

So yeah thanks for the advice, I'm getting a 360.

my dream for a long while was to buy a 360 on the PS3 launch day just to snicker at the lines, but now its merely days away and I realize I don't have $400 to blow right now.

oh well! I'll grab it in time for Halo 3 at least.

Wii's my main focus right now, but after X-Mas (Jan/Feb) I plan on splurging for a 360.
