Last night I was playing MW2 and all of a sudden the display become oversaturated with a psyschedelic green. Here's a video for reference, not my xbox, but very similar to what I experienced. I turned it off and then back on, no display, no sound. But apparently it sees my controller and I am logged into live. I've tried other cables, tvs; it has to be the 360.

Anyways, now my 360 has no display. I've been trying to research this bug online sifting through forums and it seems this might be a precursor to the E74 error, but I have no error lights and looking at just the circle lights the 360 appears to be working. Alas, no sound or display. I ask because if this is pre E74 then maybe if I turn it on and keep it on it will develop the error? Or should I just send it to MS and pay them the 100 bucks to fix it (it's out of the standard one year warranty). Anyone have any experience with this issue? Kinda irritating to say the least.

Did the display stop working before it gave you the RROD?

I wonder if it is worth calling up and bitching respectfully about it. In our household, between my bro and I, we've been through 10 360s. Personally, this one was only number 2 for me, but I am wondering if playing that angle would help. I have the feeling I am going to get the runaround since my 1 year warranty is up and neither RROD or E74 is displaying. Grrrr.

The graphical glitches are similar to the fault I had early this year.

My E74 came when I tried to restart the machine, so I'd say an E74 is imminent. Play it some more on a graphically intensive 3D game to tip it over the edge, and you'll have a legit issue.

My 360 E74ed in Fallout 3, when I fired a missile into a packed room. Do something similar and see if your 360 has a fit.

if you can't force E74 on it, just give it the RROD.

wrap the fucker in towels, put it near a space heater. whatever.

that's what I'd do, and thats what I'll do the first time my 360 decides to act up.

It's not even that tough to force a RROD. Just pull the plug from the power brick to the proper point while the system is powered on. That will force an illusion of RROD. Do it enough times to fill the fault log and contact MS.

Well I simply left it on for about 8 hours straight. Turned it on today and now I have video, but the colors are still wonky. Likely it's about to die. I turned on Dead Rising and put Frank where you get the samurai sword near Roastmasters. Hopefully my box will DIE.

No offense but if a 360 died on you that many times there is another factor at play.

Then again my Dad's 360 got RROD on Christmas Day, he had only had it a year :(
