Don't see this everyday.
IGN: Xbox 360 Takes Console Throne in Japan
I am surprised that it could sell that well there.
It must be a cold day in Hell.
This is off of only a single week. The PSP outsold the DS for at least one week 2 years ago as I recall and the DS; last I checked; still sells much better overall.
That said though, I personally wouldn't be that surprised if this continued. I definitely think the 360 is a strong system, despite most of the top games for it lacking significant depth IMO.
Take that Sony and Nintendo! Suck it!
The PSP has been kicking the DS's ass relatively often of late, in Japan. Monster Hunter says hello.
Agreed, but the Xbox is normally so far behind everything else in Japan that the fact that it happened at all is amazing.
I had no idea the "Tales" series was so popular in Japan.
It pushed hardware for a system that many people in that country could care less about.
not this week, #1 went to DS, #2 went to 360, #3 went to Wii, while #4 went to the PSP...think it has something to do with Pocket Monster Platinum saying hi too
but its good to see the 360 finally making a dent...i wonder how FFXIII will go seeing its going to both the PS3 and 360.
Infinite Undiscovery topped at #3 (with 87k sales) while the only other 360 game on the Top 30 was Tales of Vesperia at #23 (4.6k sales)
One week isn't a dent. If this lasts longer than just this week I would be very surprised indeed.
28,680 Japan gamers cry out one week later NOOOOOOOO RROD!
No, post it! But remember the 360 hasn't even sold a million in its lifetime in Japan, which is pretty horrendous. FFXIII may boost sales exponentially as well as the drip feed of Squenix products and given it's way cheaper than PS3 that might be how they start getting a more substantial foothold.
because everybody already owns a wii
nice sensationalist thread title there dudes.
"Money Talks" not much more to be said about that. If you pay for exclusive Japanese RPGs, eventually even the most loyal have to cave to play them (Star Ocean is a big example) I can sleep with the enemy and not be happy about their actions. In the end I get to play all of the games, even if I get a virtual STD from some of them.
And what T-T said, the PSP didn't just get lucky one week, it's been dancing the dance with the DS back and Forth. Phantasy Star Universe brought it back up again.
heheh, this may not be too far from the truth.
I wonder if by this point the RROD systems have been weeded out.
It's as if millions of Nintendo FanBoy suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced, only to pick up there bitching a moment later.
Heheh, that joke's already been used this week, by your dinner guest.
Guess those exclusive rpg's paid off. Mistwalker probably has alot to do with it, and now that they have Squaresoft as well.....
FFXIII is only going to the 360 in Europe and North America. In Japan it's still going to be a PS3 exclusive.
