Which way do you have your 360 set up in your place?

I've heard and seen the results of scratched discs when people have it standing up, but I've also heard that standing up your 360 can contribute to the red ring of death quicker. Any evidence to back up this claim I've heard?

Myself, I have it lying down right now, but I'm thinking of standing it up to conserve space.

the main vent/cooling area i think its on the bottom if its standing up (the silver one) so its best to have it laying down especially if you have it on carpet

I had it laying down for 3 months and it scratched the shit out of my Gears of War, that I had to use a disc doctor 3 times, also did to my Ultimate Alliance. Ive had it standing up for about the last 8 months and it has done better, although I did see some slight scratches on my Halo 3 disc

So has anyone here had the red ring of death on a previous 360? Was that standing up or laying down?

I have mine laying down, but that's just because of my setup.

My nephews have severely scratched some discs on a unit that was standing up though, but they knocked it over while the disc was spinning.

Standing up, because microsoft and sony like making things into huge globs of oddly shaped plastic that you can't stack like every other item in an av cabinet. Never had a disc get scratched.

Ditto, I have yet to have a disc scratched. But I have had my ass scratched by my Xbox while it was standing up.

The disk wont scratch either laying down or standing up, but anywhere else will cause damage. I had my Xbox knocked slightly over once, about a 45 degree and I had to replace my R6:Las Vegas disk :(

    Rant time!

Why the hell doesn't Microsoft make a) Halo 3 colored controllers for individual purchase and b) a black elite quick charge station with black battery? Call it OCD, but I want all my accessories and battery packs to match.

    Rant over

Mine used to be standing up, while in that position it scratched CoD2 and 3. Once it got moved it has to be on its side. In that position it scratched CoD3 and GH2. The disc tray also doesn't like to open if theres no disc in the drive when its on its side.

I have my 360, Horizontal on a rack above my old xbox. I also put a floor fan infront of the 360 to push the hot air away.

My 360 and Wii both lay down. I had a game ruined by a standing 360.

I'd have figured the corner on the ps3 by the power button would have been better for scratching an ass.

I thought the only way a disc could be scratched while it was being played was if the system was moved. If that is the case then it doesn't matter if your system is horizontal or vertical.

I have mine standing up next to my computer monitor...but I'm getting ready to move it down stairs into my game room and I'll probably lay it flat...but that is because of the set up I currently have.
