    Double Dragon arrives on XBLA

Not sure if I'd use Live Messenger, still it'll be interesting to see it in action.

I kept resetting my 360 last night after midnight so I would get prompted for the update but I never did receive a prompt.

I never get to do anything first. :(

    Edit:
And has anyone seen a picture of the 'High Definition' option in Double Dragon?
Castlevania supposedly had that option, but 'High Definition' was really 'Blurry'.

And does "Added MPEG-4 Part 2 video support: Up to 5 Mbps peak, Simple Profile with 2 channel AAC LC." mean DivX support?

Somehow I doubt it, but I am hopeful.

If it matters, I can confirm the update is online, and its rather fast since we got most of it a while ago. Live Blade is default red and to the left of your normal blades. The MSN Messenger setup is easy as hell. All I had to do was input my password I already had amd bam I was signed in.

I took a look at the text input device. What a neat little gizmo! I don't think I'll have any use for it, but a mini keyboard attached a controller's accessory port, spiffy!

I tried out the live messenger feature but I'm never going to use it because it signs me off my computer.

From what my friend said, its the Arcade version(I was not tracking the game while it was getting ported), and it just "didn't feel right" in his words. Pretty much saying try the demo first.

    Got the update just now.
The Marketplace blade is not bad, though I don't really see the need for it.
The way the have the content layout out is slightly better and I've noticed when you get the icon for one game it applies to all sections of Marketplace.

I've not tried the Messenger yet, but one feature they have altered is how video's are displayed, and that makes me a happy bunny.

Previously when you connected to a computer to find video's it would just list them all alphabetically, with this update it displays them in folders, somewhat like the music or photo's are stored, which is much better.

    No DivX support.
    Thanks, Microsoft. :(

Played the demo of Double Dragon.
The redrawn graphics are nice. I would like to see more XBLA titles do that.
It still has the best punching sound in history -but I don't feel like buying it.

I bought Double Dragon last night and gave it a quick play through. For the most part I'm pretty happy with it. I love the redrawn graphics, they look great in HD. The updated musioc is nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. I love that they included the option to center the screen and enlarge or reduce it to fit your screen.

I really enjoy the new graphics.

I remember it being a longer game though. I started and finished it on medium in the time it took for my wife to take a shower. Maybe 20 minutes or so?

Yeah, it moves along pretty swiftly. I plan on trying it on the most difficult setting tonight. I haven't had a chance to check out the achievements yet, so I want to see how attainable they are.

Speaking of swiftly, WTF is up with the slowdown? DD is pushing the processing power of the 360 to the limit?! Pretty inexcusable.

Some of the achievements are easy to get, after all, how hard can it be to pick up every weapon in the game at least once :rolleyes2  .

Yeah, a few were pretty lame. However, they make up for it with some doozies. I'm going to practice up to try and get through the game without continuing and I am looking forward to trying to getthrough stage 1 without being hit. I've already played through the game itsef 4 or 5 times now, and I'm still not tired of it.

I noticed that too. Hopefully a patch is released to help alleviate that problem.

From what I hear, the slowdown is only a minor annoyance in single player while it's utterly horrible in co-op. Can't say for sure as I've only done single player up to this point.

Arcade Double Dragon has always had hideous slowdown, which will carry over into any accurately emulated version of it. They might be able to get around it by overclocking the emulated CPU, but that could cause more problems then it solves depending how the game was originally coded.
