For those that have sent their systems in for repairs, how long has it taken for you to get it back? 4 weeks? 6 weeks? Longer?

Did you get your system back or a different refurbished one?

I think it's funny that they are so generously giving me a "free" month of Xbox live. They aren't giving me anything for free. They are merely extending my one year subscription out for the month I'm without my system...

    Good point, that's a shitty non-deal.

I take it the towel trick didn't work?

    Didn't bother to try.

I had the red rings and afterwards the system wouldn't boot up at all.

I had two systems give me the Red Rings.
They tried to give me Xbox Live for free, but I argued and ended up with Kameo instead. The first time was 9 days and the second time was 13 days.

I got a new system (minus the hard drive) each time.

Ouch... and here I was saying the extended warranty was a cool gesture... hadn't even taken that into account.

I still think it is a good gesture.

Mine both bricked before the warranty.
It's a shame that Microsoft let the defects go through, but I am happy to see them address it.

I think if they hadn't there would have been crazy class action suits. Hell, I'm surprised there wasn't anyway.

You know if this was some fly by night company they'd be out of business by now. How can a company sell defective merchandise? I don't care if they fix it for free. Would you buy a car that breaks down every 500 miles even if the warranty covered it?

I see your point, but its not really a proper analogy.
I mean I certainly would not buy a car that broke down -you rely on a car.
But a game system that lets me play Gears, Halo, Dead Rising that might break down and the company has fessed up to the issue and will fix it -then yes.

If mine breaks again, I am sure the replacement will be the new "Falcon" model.
I know just as many people that have never had an issue as I do people that I have an issue. Okay, I have never taken a survey :)  but I do know some people that have the 360 and have never had the red rings.

You are told specifically to NOT send your HD with your system.

Well, mine bricked 3 Tuesdays ago (9/25) (Halo 3 killed it before I even got a chance to play), took me until last Friday to get the empty box, and I shipped that out on Monday. I'll let you know when I actually get my system back, but this coming Tuesday it will have been three weeks already from it bricking so I'm not a happy man (at least it gives me a chance to beat Metroid Prime 2 before buying Prime 3, plus the Bleach game for the Wii is pretty fun).

took me about a month from when I sent it out to when I got it back. They sent me a new one also. The free month of Live doesn't really do anything for me. I don't have any games to play online yet. Maybe in a few months, I'll pick up Halo3 or something.

Sorry to hear it. It took a week for me to get the shipping box. I dropped it off at the local UPS drop location Wednesday at noon. It's currently out for delivery.

So I shipped it last Wednesday. It was delivered last Friday. They sent me another one on Monday. It's being delivered tomorrow.

    That's pretty darn fast.

Wonder if they sent me one of the newer models that has the better heatsink (or whatever it was that was fixed). Any way to tell?

Looks like I'll be up and running before GHIII is released. Yay!

That is pretty fast. Almost as good as not breaking in first place. :p

That is really fast. I have seen sob stories on the XBOX360 forums of people waiting months to get their 360 back.

    Gratz to you!
