So instead of relying on memory cards that provide very little space, we will be able to use USB sticks to hold our saves etc Yay! Xbox 360 gaining USB storage support in 2010 update -- Joystiq Max support will be of 16GB USB sticks, which is a load of space. Very much like having the option to use a USB stick.
Putting disc games on a 8 or 16 GB USB device is the only thing I would ever need this for. I would imagine games would load faster off USB as opposed to the HDD, but who knows.
This is great news as I would love to be able to back up game saves without buying the Microsoft-branded Memory Units. Well, I'm not happy about it, but Microsoft still wants you to buy their Xbox-branded hard drives.
I may be interested in this, still on my original year one eccsbawks and 20gb is a bit tight for large DLC when you want to leave 9gb spare for installing.
Its a business. Why should it have cheaper hard drives? The logical thing is what its doing.....if anything they have given us a better option than relying on their crappy memory cards. They didn't have to go the USB route, but hey, im glad they did.
But the competition has gone that route from day one and allows user upgradeable HDs too just saying...
It's a good step, it'll definitely help things. However, it wouldn't even be needed if the bigger hard drive's were more affordable in the first place. Plus, with this option coming, if the bigger hard drives weren't selling before, they sure as hell aren't going to now.
So does this mean I can buy the cheap Arcade unit and use a USB stick to keep Ikaruga and Perfect Dark on? Those are the only reasons I want a 360 anyway.
