I just got up and saw an e-mail from TRU stating that all XBox 360 systems have been reduced by $50 and when I check Target's site, it is the same there. Is this permanent or a temporary thing?

Basicially they've stopped making the Arcade and Elite systems, replacing them with the new 250 gig Xbox and whatever the 200 dollar one will be down the line.

Cool news, have friend who want a 360 now they can afford one. I got mine new for $99 after I got a $100 walmart gift card back after purchase. I'm tempted to sell mine and get that new 250gb slim edition. It's just so sexy, plus it beats dropping $130 for a standalone 250gb HDD.

Like I said in the E3 thread, you could get up too $180 in Gamestop trade-in credit for your old system.

Hmmmm might go by there and trade mine in. Question, is your friends list saved online or is it saved onto your system? Pretty sure it's online but wanna be sure.

I'm gonna use a USB stick for that, see if GS won't give me more buck for my system with the 20GB attached than they would without it.

I gotta say though, this new 360 is so fucking sexy. I'm just hoping it doesn't have hardware issues like the first gen 360 did/does.

id get excited for this if Microsoft had found and installed an effective and permanent solution to the RROD. To my knowledge they haven't.

Really? The new smaller chips, better soldering, heat management, lower power consumption, and complete board redesign aren't solutions to the RROD?

    Seriously?

I mentioned this in the E3 thread, but right now at Target you can get an Arcade system for $150, and on top of that they will give you a $50 gift card. So basically you get a 360 for only $100.

Your cousin already has a "slim" model?

I'm talking about previous improvements combined with the lower power consumption of the new system should nearly eliminate RRoD. Could it still happen? Yes, but you can't say that Microsoft hasn't made strides to fix the problem.

I could only find the $30 gift card deal on the Elite on target online. Not $50... is it typo?

but anyway... I haven't been into xbox... and just thought the RRoD is scary enough...

Had mine for two years and never had a problem. Since its a little 60 I'm seriously thinking about trading it in and upgrading to the new model in the next few weeks. Was looking at getting a bigger HD, but I figure I can get at least 150 for my current 60gb model plus the wireless adapter so the new one will end up costing me about as much as the HD would.
