Now I HAVE to get this kit. Why did the US version have to get sold out? I'll check out eBay.

 

For the record, there's some extra work involved with this upgrade kit.

the plastic disk that keeps Ultra Magnus' cab attached to his trailer, if you leave it on, then the cab underside/back filler won't plug in entirely.

I ended up having to sand away the upper part of the disk, then cutting away at some parts of the back filler to get it to work. It doesn't cause trouble anymore.

I still need to sand away parts of the red leg flaps though, they don't tab in shut anymore once the upgrades have been applied.

 

Can the disk be replaced with a thin washer? I haven't removed it and just frictioned the back plate on. It just occured to me a flat washer would still lock the cab in and be low profile enough for the backplate to snap in. Worth a try.

 

Couldn't say, I didn't have a thin washer to try. Even after I sanded the washer down as much as I did, the horizintal bar within the backplace kept getting pushed out, so I took some nailclippers to it.

Damn, that's a great price, I'm jealous.

The filler piece will stay on if you don't click the back of the cab flush to Magnus' back. I leave it out one click which looks fine AND allows me to keep that disk on.

 

So any retools of this set for PM Optimus planned?

Same here. Like a dolt I bought a "set" off eBay not realizing I had actually purchased a reissue pre-order. Haven't asked for my money back yet but things aren't looking promising.

Of course, the Takara versions for this kit are currently selling for around $35. Grrr.

 

So... Will there be a reissue of the US version? I keep avoiding the preorder on eBay and BBTS has a sold out preorder for it.

 

FWIW the eBay seller I purchased the "pre-order" from, zuochundong114, says that X2 Toys has informed him that X2 Toys has officially stated there will be another production run but no ETA on either that being started or kits being shipped.

Talk about stars lining up! I ordered an LG-14 figure and the Japanese Version of this kit from two separate ebay Sellers shipping from different parts of China and BOTH arrived at the same!!!

It's like Primus is telling me it was meant to be!  

Can't wait to get home and bust UM out and install this kit!

Also, Peaugh mentions that the backpack can stay on even with the red washer installed in his update video. Maybe he can share some pics or explains how it sits for him so that he can still transform UM without the backpack popping out?

 

It can stay on, just not flush.

 

Ah ok. Well I will try swapping it out with a thin washer tonight and see if that solves the issue. Will post my results tonight.

Sure he was pretty decent stock...


But the kit just... Wow!!!


Oh and the washer swap was a success.  


I had to replace the stock screw as the washer I used had a larger hole. I could have gotten a washer with a smaller hole from the hardware store but I couldn't be bothered waiting till the morning  

You can now transform him and the back cover does not pop off. No mod needed for the cover as the thin washer allows enough clearance.

 

That's a nice solution.

I personally just leave the trailer wheels up one click so the cover fits on with no modding, but yours is a simple enough fix as well.

 

Credit for the washer idea goes to ma70er. Definitely a simple and quick solution to the clearance issue for the backpack
