@cj37a You understand that it comes with the screen, right? From what X2 describes, you just have to provide a video source to plug into it and batteries to power it.

You know, I missed that. Price seems much more reasonable knowing that.

 

I purchased this from Show.Z! Looking forward to reviewing this. I will compare it to both X2's display backgrounds and Zeta's once I receive it.

Seriously, that price from TCP is just mindblowing.

Impossible!!! They couldn't be overcharging us all these time could they?  

 

Old price must have been if it came with the screen, which TCP says they just found out it doesn't. They aren't overcharging anyone on this, that's why the price got updated.

 

That would make sense to me. Would have liked to have added it to my stash but still a large difference and show.z already has my money now  

 

Do they have that just in plastic?

I still wish some one just did the IGear one from back in the day.

 

Baba has this on his other eBay store for $171 and I finally get the targeted eBay 15% cash back making it about $146 shipped. I am really temoted but have no where to display it at the moment, just like my FT Omega.

 

Wish it still had the screen. I think they are not going to get many orders if there is no screen (electronic or otherwise).

 

I'm sure I'm kicking at the hornets nest a little here, but I just don't understand what garners this being so expensive.

Definitely not tooling and design costs. Probably not shipping weight.... Is it because it's (almost) only being sold to older collectors?

I mean, I have a huge MP collection and I understand items are 'worth' what the market will bear, but at the same time, I find it hard to believe they couldn't have priced this at $75 and basically gotten one into almost every single G1ers MP display.

I'll be surprised if someone doesn't KO this within a couple of months and sell for much cheaper. It's not like the plastic quality is important.

 

The problem here is the confusion as to what the product actually does. Even with some of these preorder links, I feel as if we are still guessing. I like the look and the idea of hooking up a device to a functioning teletran screen. If it is just a transparent plastic sheet, that will be a shame. Sadly, I think that is the case.

 

Shipping cost is probably high due to the size, dimensions of the box. And then a retailer needs an even bigger box to surround the product box to ship it to a customer.

 

Okay, maybe the listing text is misleading, but I'm almost positive, it doesn't come with a functioning LCD. You can clearly see in the pictures on page 1 that the 'screen' is an empty slot meant to slide in your own device.

And logically, even if this did come with an LCD built in, how the hell would anyone be able to play something on it? Wired? SD card? over Wifi? Bluetooth? And in that case, now we're talking about product that would be considerably more expensive than $200.

I'm surprised that anyone is confused by this.

 

Well, since you quoted the video that I posted. If you looked at the details of that FB post, it says that it's the x2toys BG-A2 and the Nintendo Switch. The later has it's own screen, and was just placed on the back of the product, to show the screen.

 

Hmm... good thing better options were readily advertised.
