Not sure how I feel about TB, but I love Hoist.

 

Looking quite good. Seems like the longer you wait to choose for these characters, the better your options get.

 

Well shit.. I kind of like these. I love Ocular Max but I keep going back and forth on their Trailbreaker. This is making it even tougher.

 

Nahh feet look funky and trailbreakers waist/lower half looks crazy long. His face is also too damn happy lol. His alt mode looks more like a generic pickup with a small camper in the back.

 

Their TB looks very similar to FT's design.

 

Those look really good. This surfeit of great options for these guys makes the decision a tad difficult, especially with the lag before we actually get the FT and XTB versions.

hmmmm... Like the other major offerings, there's some good and some bad. I was really hoping XTB would be the ones to nail the aesthetics of both modes...but these guys still aren't quite there imo. So far I'd have to say BadCube has the best alt modes but worst bot modes, FT (for TB anyways) has the best bot mode but worst alt mode, and these guys are a compromise in between (good, but not great for either mode)....

Both of their shoulders are too low, especially Hoist. They also gave Hoist the same kind of waist as BC...which looks weird. Neither of them has much of a thigh. The alt mode looks too generic and not particularly like a Toyota 4WD. For whatever reason, they made the fenders perfectly round just like FT's instead of squared off like a real Toyota 4WD... There's definitely room for improvement, but I look forward to seeing more.

 

Ok. These take the lead for me. Nailed pretty much every detail.

 

Was going mention the round fenders again at the risk of becoming 'fender guy', glad you pointed it out lol.

 

I hope Xtb can figure out how to engineer the shoulder launcher and the shield projector into the altmode (or transformation). Whichever company can figure this out will be my go-to Trailbreaker.

 

Not sure yet about the faces, but these, esp Trailbreaker, look good!

 

Their hoist looks great. However, this is XTB. I'm not going to forego my current hoist of choice for a hoist in the long distant future, that is a crap shoot quality wise.

If the QC is good, and transformation is good I'll just double dip. But XTB doesn't get pre-orders from me anymore.

 

I am definitely XTB now for both. These are prototypes so this is not something they started yesterday and being released in the distant future. I was going Bad Cube for Hoist because MMC made no effort to distinguish his design but there were several things I didn't like about Bad Cube's design and no the realistic winch in the back and King Arthur accessories are not enough to keep me just like Chip Chase in a wheelchair didn't make me pick Sunsurge. I liked MMC Terraegis because of the folded in chest but this one just captures all of TB's details. I am sure it is also probably taller as well. These are the first ones that appear to me were not just 80% shared parts with minor differences. It looks like they made a TB and Hoist separately even though they obviously are going to share some parts.

 

It does make me wonder though if everyone is trying to get their versions out before an official TT announcement, kinda like Inferno.

 

I'm starting to think that way about ALL the characters.
Unless a company makes something you just fall in love with for whatever reason, best to just sit back and wait. A year from now you will actually be able to compare the final actual toys for about what? 5 different Trailbreakers?

 

I need to see some colored test shots before I bite.....the fence,I'm officially on it.

 

Wonder if these guys are from the same mold. They don't look it. At the moment, I'm thinking I may go with FT for TB and XTB for Hoist, unless FT shows off their Hoist any time soon.

But I'm really wary of getting anything from XTB again. They certainly suck at minibots.
