Okay, I'm a little slow with the X-box Live stuff. I only have the Silver package. I am thinking about buying Rock Band and am leaning toward the 360 version since I already have a Guitar Hero guitar and that would save me some money.

What I was wondering was can I still download the music packs from X-box Live with the Silver package? Or would I have to splurge on the Gold subscription to get access to the downloads? I don't have any desire to play against people online, I just want that Punk Pack.

    Thanks.

    You can download it.

The only thing the gold package gives you is the online multiplayer.
I think as Sony and Nintendo increase their online pressence then that will change, too.

I see the free silver deal becoming what the gold package used to be and then the gold members getting a discount on Marketplace stuff. Like renting a movie will be 450 points for Silver members and 400 for Gold members or something like that.

It's all speculation on my part.

Much as I would like to, I don't see it happening. Micro$oft doesn't seem to have any intentions on making online gaming on the 360 free anytime soon if at all.
