By the way, this is the recap script:

Optimus Prime patrols the city on Christmas Eve, lamenting the sales of Soundwave toys by Porter C Powell, who has hung on to the design rights. Prime then sees a rogue Soundwave, and chases after it. After a spectacular failure to capture it, he heads back to base where Sari is preparing "oil nog" for her robotic friends.

Another Soundwave quietly bursts from one of the Autobots' wrapped gifts, and spikes the oil nog, which causes the Autobots to tire and soon pass out. WHen they awaken, they are human, and Sari is out of contact.

Sari herself is spending Christmas with her father, who gives her a transforming scooter jetpack, along with a Soundwave toy. Frustrated, she heads back to the Autobot base.

The human Autobots get hungry, and dine at Burger Bot shortly before a mass Decepticon attack decimates Detroit. Optimus, Ratchet and Prowl save a family from a Burning building, but then find themselves facing down the still-robotic Starscream.

At the Autobot base, Sari discovers Laserbeak and a small squad of hostile autonomous Soundwave toys.

Shocked at the sight of Cybertron itself approaching Earth and destroying Sumdac Tower, the Autobots face down Megatron and the Decepticons. During their fight, the Autobots realize they are in some sort of virtual reality and subdue the artificial Decepticons.

Sari discovers an elevator leading to an underground facility beneath the Autobot base, where she finds Soundwave and the captive Autobots, prone and hooked up to his virtual reality machinery.

The Autobots revert their virtual selves back into robot form, but then find themselves in the clutches of a giant white Soundwave.

Sari attempts to stop Soundwave, but a riff from the Laserbeak guitar sends her into retreat. Soundwave then begins to play the Ratbat keytar, reprogramming the Autobots and leading us into a cliffhanger.

As much as I want the guy w/Gurren Shades to be Kamina, it's actually Hydra from Masterforce. Still a cool reference, but not as cool as the founder of Team Gurren.

You're probably right, but those were Kamina's shades. Didn't Hydra just have round glasses?

These were NOT the glasses in Human Error Part 1:

True, but the purple hair and shirt & tie combo he was wearing is practically a Hydra Trademark, though maybe the shades are a homage to Gurren Laggan, I'll ask DJW on his twitter.

The WTF@TFW crew covered every important item in the episode save for one thing....

Optimus Prime's hair style... it was like James Jona Jameson's on the side with the intersteller poof on top.

Ok. I haver never seen Masterforce, so that was lost on me. But the shades, I ain't missing those. :)  I'm probably going to start watching the Japanese series after BotCon when I have time.

DJW says it wasn't a Kamina reference. I don't believe him.

It could just be how he likes to draw shades.

Yeah, I'm just having a hard time admitting defeat. :D

Especially after all the intentional GL references made, that one of all things seems a little obvious.

Everyone was so focused on the other Masterforce reference that "Creepy Eyepatch Kid" was never referred to as Cancer. Man, it's too bad they couldn't have slipped in a cameo by Browning as well.

:lolol  Vang that ep summary was great, it was a great flash back to searching the radio band on an old analog car radio... as well as to the intro of WKRP Cincinnati.

As for animated Shattered glass ratchet, all they need to do is make him chipper. "Good morning Bumblebee, my what a lovely paint job you have. What do you think of mine? The human's call mine mustard yellow, I like it!"

Ratchet (Shattered Glass) - Transformers Wiki

It may not be Animated SG Ratchet, but it's still SG Ratchet.
