I don't own any robot replicas, but I thought I read that the first line had decent joints, but the design of the limbs hindered how well the limbs could move?
I have two. Prime and Megatron. Prime is awesome. He's basically a Marvel Legends Prime. Megatron unfortunetly is hindered by a small head and oddly jointed elbows. But seriously, Prime is awesome.
A Flickr friend of mine, and fellow Revoltech collector, said that Megatron had such poorly designed limbs that the joints were worthless because they had no range of movement. It seems as if Hasbro copied the idea of the Revoltech figure when it came to joints, then put them into figures that were never designed for them. I was VERY excited when the concept was first announced back in 2007 or whatever. But hearing that, and seeing the atrocious paint job that many of them had, and my hopes were crushed and my spirit left broken. Like I said, I hope Hasbro learns from their mistakes and the '09 versions have a much better implementation.
Having bought Megatron on a whim, I can confirm this. It's not just that the revoltech-style joints weren't used where they should be, it's that the plastic itself gets in the way. It really is a shocking toy. Here's hoping they're, y'know, actually designed this time.
Very good episode fellas. I also enjoyed supplemental 10, well done. I think you should have Kickback on the podcast more often.
