    k... very weird

I was just playin this game last night online

i go to play tonight [game was left in the 360], so i take it out to play a little Rainbow Six. Get bored with it and decide to try and play with some friends when i take Lost Planet out of its case and try to play it, disc comes up as unreadable

so i think "wtf" and continue trying to get it to work for the next 15 minutes :p

take the disc to look and see if its dirty, its not. put it back and try again. same thing. Take the disc out and look closer, and theres a crack or a slit in the CD!

looks like maybe something caused by stress from the center dinger that it hooks onto in the case/xbox

    so now it wont play

my thing is i've never seen a stress mark/break quite like this. nor happen quite like this. Sucks because i just got this game [and my 360] like maybe a month ago. I dont know Fred Meyer's store policy on things like this [nor Capcoms, if that be a route i should take] but yeah

    im pretty miffed

month old $60 game bites the dust

i did my best to scan said "break" [the dirty stuff is actually from my scanner :p ] but ive circled the crack in red

    thoughts? suggestions?

Microsoft are doing a replacement service, not sure if it's up and running yet, but have a google around and see what you can find.

    appreciate the suggestion though!

Wow, what assholes. Seems you're SOL, or you could try contacting Capcom.

Well, you could always try the no reciept to Wal*Mart and exchange it. It usually works.

Well, this is a longshot and probably doesn't stand a chance in hell of working on a disc, but if it is just a stressmark and not an actual break, you could try SLOWLY applying heat to the mark and try to "erase" it. If the data layer is unaffected and the mark is only on the overlying plastic, it could work.

If it's defective and nobody will take it back, what do you have to lose?

Well, you should try to get replacement for that at the store, where you got it.

As for me, I've got more replacements for Hardware than Software
The only Replaced Software i had, was that shitty StarTrek9-Game(completed in 3 hours with 3 need-to-reset-HangUps).

And as it goes for most things: Don't buy 'em, if you can't get replacement by the seller, in a case of warranty.
Except for Steam-Games, which don't really need The CD/DVD when you have an Internet-connection.

Assuming that you've done nothing to abuse the game, I'd take it back to the store. So long as you go for a straight swap there shouldn't be much of a problem.

I think those games Microsoft is replacing are all first party games.

I actually had something similar to that happen to a CD in my car a looong time ago. But, because it was in the car, I thought it had to be heat or maybe I sat on it or something.

I would try taking it back to the store. They may exchange it.

Darn, and you had just gotten to Mission 8.
There are about to be some good VS battles.

    Good luck.

Something my wife and I found out from our many trips to Target. They will let you make 2 "no reciept" returns or exchanges a year. We found out when we got Madagascar for our daughter and my wife tossed the receipt before we checked the movie out. Sure enough, it was jacked

    Good deal, Josh.

The ending cinematics are a little on the ??? side, but overall I think Lost Planet is one of the best games on the 360.

Whyfore do you not have Gears?
