Us, as in TF fans. Weird. Picky. Whiny. Mental. Impatient. Borderline insane.

Some are far more guilty than others, but it seems to be a running thread through the fandom. What gives?

Most people have a dark side, and I think the anonymity that comes with being on the internet means that people tend to act a little more extreme online then they would in real life.

Pretty sure that's just all online shit. I'd give any of you a chance... to run.

I don't kid about my rebates though.

    ^

I actually asked on of the mods what happened with all the bickering and fighting at some point. He was right about the calm before the storm that is DOTM.

Well.... most of us are adults who collect childrens' toys. I mean, that's sort of inherently abnormal, right? Maybe it means we're just a little tweaked? :)

Although I suspect if you went to websites devoted to more "respectable" (deliberately putting that in quotes, that's not actually what I believe) hobbies, you'd find people just as complainy, particular, and hard to please.

    Welcome to the internet.

Besides, we're not the only ones; pretty much every fanbase ever has its group of annoying people. Some just have more vocal, impatient, dickish, stupid, and/or whatever else people than others.

Like everyone else said, it's partly to do with the anonymity thing of saying whatever you want (mostly) and acting however you want (mostly) because you're pretty much guaranteed that whoever's on the other end won't ever knowingly meet you face-to-face (and deck you for arguing with them). Heck, even I'm much different online than offline; namely, in the real world, I don't think that half the people around me are morons and trolls. (I'm also less of an attention seeker). :p

That would explain why so many people never seem to realize that "Hasblow" is a company that makes toys for children, not adult collectors.

If you think TF fans are bad.....try dealing with belligerent Hot Wheels collectors.

Have you ever dropped by comic book message boards? Some of that stuff makes the stuff here seem tame :)

    Hardcore Harry Potter fans.......

We are a very tame lot compared to a lot of fanbases out there.

More accurately welcome to toy collectors on the internet. Although TF fans are less nutty than other groups of toy fans. He-man.org is like some kind of looney colony.

And some of us even enjoy My Little Pony. Like, what the hell?

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and attribute it to internet anonymity. I'm nowhere near as talkative in real life as I am on forums.

No really though, every fandom has people who whine, are impatient, don't like something. It's just how people are, and you hear more of it on the internet because we have this shield called, "anonymity".

Yeah I can. People read more books, went outside to play, actually hung out more with friends, learned valuable social interaction skills, didn't mouth off as much because people knew that saying the wrong thing to the wrong person would get their ass handed to them, people actually had more respect for others.....man I can go on.

Yup, that's why I try my best to pretty much never insult or fight someone. Ijust let them enjoy their shiny moments of assholity and just avoid the annoying consequences.

This forum is nothing compared to a few other forums I am on. The worst one would be a parenting forum for Aussie parents, we have had people take out restraining orders against other members due to threats. Another time one member posted pictures of another member's genitals - not kidding! Yes, that person got a lifetime ban, but the damage was done at that point KWIM?

This is rather tame and homey, actually.

I agree. I've been on some other forums that make the so called arguments and bickering that happens here seem like normal everyday discussions.
