@Keyforge: A product specifically made for sealed league style play and the chain "handicap" mechanic really speak to me in a positive way. Everyone who I saw giving the criticism of it being 'bad' because of its design are also people who play draft style games, deckbuilder games or just straight up booster pack constructed and no other experiences.

From what I was seeing, the games run "long" in the sense of a card game, but intent feels very much like PokemonTCGOnline Theme Deck league; Your deck is precon'd with some synergies, some generic workhorses and then a handful of cards that are fine being in the deck / as hosers but otherwise are just a card that is there to bring the deck up to minimum size. In that sense they also remind me very much of the MTG commander precons.

Seems thing you play on the side as quick fun and thats it. Especially since the decks are retailing for around 10 bucks, so $20 you have a real quick card game to play with a friend. That the cards even have rarities is a bit weird and I can only image there are so many embedded synergies across enough cards that procedurally generating the deck for print you start to see people open near-identical builds in the wild. Also won't be surprised when people start sleeving up the cards to ignore the "timestamped" cardbacks and just making constructed decks anyway.

Yeah there's a lot about Keyforge I like the sound of - it just all sounds like it would've been a really good digital game, while being done in paper adds levels of complication I'm trying to see past. I love well made precon anything, but am super worried about how Keyforge's approach would require SO MUCH refining before it goes to sale. I guess it's a good sign that there's no solid release date yet.

It is encouraging that you guys seem to positive about the game. I determined very quickly that I am going all in on it and from many (too many) years of experience with ccgs, tcgs, and lcgs I am feeling incredibnly optimistic due to a variety of factors. Are you planning to keep the TCG talk separate from the \"main\" show or just incorporate it as another segment?

Right now it seems like a thing that will probably just come up on even numbered episodes & surround TJ like a poisonous cardboard fog

Oooh, Ken Nagle is the lead set designer, neat! Actually rather surprised to see both Matt Tabak and Mark Rosewater worked on R&D for the game.

    WHY.

This is why I, probably against sense, ended up buying 2 (the max allowed) convention packs from HTS and 1 on ebay so I have playsets of the battle cards. Pretty disappointed that this kinda crap is happening from the beginning of the game.
