So I poked a preview Optimus Prime up on eBay and I got this message after a couple days:

    Your listing has been removed.

Your item was removed because of a request we received from Hasbro, Inc., a member of our Verified Rights Owner Program (VeRO), asking us to remove the item for:

    - Item(s) is a counterfeit product which infringes the trademark owner's rights.

    What is this BS?

    Ebay:
-shrug- Stop selling counterfeit Optimus Primes, then? Kidding. :D

Ebay can't even stop a dude from selling the SAME Grand Max over and over again and screwing people - I'm not surprised by anything they do anymore.

Yeah, it's crap, I sent a rather terse response sighting the 5 other people selling DOTM preview Prime and the multiple completed auctions. WTF Hasbro, stay off my S***!

    Here's what Hasbro gets:

Recently an item I had placed up for sale on the auction website eBay was removed due to: a member of our Verified Rights Owner Program (VeRO), asking us to remove the item for:

    - Item(s) is a counterfeit product which infringes the trademark owner's rights.

This request originated from Hasbo Inc.

I would like some clarification how an item that is readily available from toy retailers both on site and via the internet:
Transformers Dark of the Moon Action Figure - Optimus Prime - Hasbro - Toys "R" Us

    and from your own website:

Transformers at HasbroToyShop.com | TRANSFORMERS DARK OF THE MOON OPTIMUS PRIME Product Details

could possibly be considered a "counterfeit product which infringes the trademark owner's rights."?

It's not even really the auction that irritates me the most, but the obvious lack of investigation that went into this allegation. As a loyal Hasbro customer for the last 3 decades, I believe an apology is in order.

    I await your response

    Thank you,

    Ebay:
Hasbro probably has a "bot" looking for any DOTM toys on the site. Since none of the toys, (except 3D Prime) "exist, it reports that listing to eBay, and they just play nice with the big boys and you don't get the chance to sell it. I am pretty sure that's about all it is.

I'd go for that explanation except for the multiple other auctions that are active and have completed over the last month for the same item.

    Ebay:
someone here hates you and reported it.

Even the bots do it randomly. Ebay is a broke system with no intentions of fixing itself, only profiting more. They probably charge Hasbro for every "hit" they get.

I don't know why Hasbro would take down your auction, but I also don't know why anyone would buy one from you when they're out everywhere...

Everywhere in the US, perhaps. Not everywhere. And, as is often lamented, distrubition even over there is terrible.
