So I'm curious about some info about WST (Worlds Smallest Transformers).

Firstly are these has/tak figures or third party?

The seconds question is there size, just how small are there?

I've seen quite a few of these from time to time and they are really freaking cool, but knowing their size has kind of stalled me on buying them. That and if they are has/tak or third party.

Thanks for the help and info.

3rd Party. As far as I know the size varry's I'm not sure if their scale reduction is staticly based as in 1:2 off of hasbro/takara figures or if they just design them to be smaller than has tak I'm not that versed on WST. Perhaps another board member can enlighten me as well

Thanks a ton for the link and pics. It seems as if they might be a bit smaller than legend/cyberverse figures, which is really freaking cool.

In some ways I wish I never saw these cause now I want them LOL.

WSTs were originally a Takara exclusive product. After they killed the line, 3rd party companies took up the ball and ran with it. Shame too, because the original WSTs were really great toys, and it was just awesome to get TFs so small, and yet have articulation/features similar to their original G1 incarnations (That WST Soundwave up there actually comes with a really tiny Ravage, which transforms and can stay inside Soundwave's tape deck compartment). The really nice thing about them is you could collect a whole bunch and still have a lot of shelf space leftover :lol  I imagine those things go really well with baseformers like Fortress Maximus.

WST are very small and very neat. I have a fair share of the takara ones plus a few knock offs that heerotoysmaker produces.

I hope more are made, third party or not. They make it easier to create dioramas and add to existing train sets. I would love to see a full year one set...you listening herotoymaker?

Takara released them blind packaged, so you didn't know which one you would get until you opened the box. They did characters like Optimus Prime, Sideswipe, Red Alert, Starscream, Jazz, Megatron, Thrust, Sounwave. They also packed in "chase" figures that were harder to get, like Thundercracker or Ultra Magnus.

A company called Justitoys released a set of Dinobots (with several recolors later), a Blaster, a Shockwave and an Astrotrain (just recently). These are all original molds, but very closely based on the G1 toys.

An online seller named Heerotoysmaker, who works through ebay, copied a lot of the old Takara molds and released a number of toys with slight modifications, new stickers or colors. He released characters like Sunstorm, Ramjet, Dirge, Acid Storm. He also copied the Optimus Prime mold and made a trailer, which has been released as G1, G2, Diaclone, Pepsi, etc. He has a Music Label and armored Ultra Magnus, several recolors of it. Last year he did a bunch of recolors of Sideswipe as Tiger Track and Breakdown. A Music Label Soundwave and a Botcon Optimus Prime were his latest toys, and lots of rare variants of his pop up every once in a while, glow in the dark, chrome, translucent, variations of the regular toys.

There was an official Ultra Magnus released at Wonderfest years ago, but it's SUPER expensive. The Heerotoysmaker one is better and cheaper. There are a lot of customs out there made by Shapeways, and some people have taken to calling the shrunken combiner sets on ebay "Smallest" toys too, but most of them are a bit bigger than real Smallest toys.

A couple years back Big Lots stores carried of line of oversized Smallest toys. I have the Prowl here somewhere. It's the mold of Smallest Prowl resized back up to the original G1 toy.

Yeah, once you start down the WST path it seems to become an addiction. I don't know what it is about them, even the Heero KO's are awesome - especially with reprolabels

I sense a yoda moment here...

"Once you start down the WST path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will..."

    :p

Thats what cyberverse did to me.

So are the ones by heerotoysmaker any good? I see them on ebay for pretty cheap, $8.00 shipping from Hong Kong to USA.

I see the clear black, black, G1, G2, G2.5, Pepsi optimus primes, and even Ultra magnus for decently cheap and I would love to pick them up but not sure if I should get the heerotoysmaker versions or pay more for the "real" ones...
