So why are WST figures so dang expensive?! What is the reason for this?, I can hardly justify 100's for something so small.

    Basically it's supply and demand.

    1) They aren't made any more.
    2) They weren't hugely popular when they were released (only 2.5 waves were made) so there aren't a lot people selling them.

What was the retail price of these when they came out? I am curious what kind percentage of mark up they have. The only ones I'm after are prime with his mini box, Magnus, and nemesis. They are all painfully priced but I may have to bite the bullet.

Back in the day you would have to buy cases I think? Not very expensive if I'm remembering correctly...

I think Seibertron is referring to WST here, see for yourself

I have 2 cases of the 1st two waves with some still in the boxes. They are neat but that's about it. The Justitoys WST's are a lot nicer then the official Takara ones!

If you're patient you should be able to score a Prime (and maybe Megs) for a fair price on eBay. I'd say around last March or so I bought a Prime WST (with box in perfect shape) and two trailers for something like $28 shipped. Some dude makes the trailers and they're perfect.

The original Prime and Megs (and I think maybe two others were packaged like this) were some sort of con giveaway or door prize. The boxes were all the same, so you didn't know which one you got unless you opened it.

The official trailer & Magnus were "chase" figures so their prices are much more than the normal figures.

The Magnus armor/trailer was a very limited 'custom' piece sold under a Takara convention-license, so very rare, very pricey.
