This has to be the lamest thing I have heard yet....Writing in the accident will probably make a lame script even lamer....

Don't get me wrong...I loved the first movie...but I was really hoping for some depth the second go around......

Could this takeaway from that...I hope not......!!!

    ps.....

Are those board games or pizza boxes that fell out of the truck....I dunno....just funny...that it looks like it.....

well it's either write in why he has a on his hand, postpone it, or cancel it lol which would you rather have?

i mean it's not like they can suddenly change the main character's actor, in the middle of shooting, it'd just look strange lol!

Writing in an actor's injury has been done before.

That's why Empire Strikes Back starts with Luke getting captured by an alien bear.

    I second Dolza_Khyron's point.

What do you do when your main human star is injured like this? You either stop production and wait, can the whole thing or change a few little bits to accomodate the injury.

Which one would you have chosen Simian?

Hmm...I can see a good way to write it in. If it is Sam who encounters Laserbeak/Ravage/whatever that Frenzy-like thing was, he'll have a cast of some sorts on it due to the injury.

Doesn't surprise me that it happened. Never liked Shia Lebeouf to begin with.

It's a dumb idea because they could shot around the hand injury.

James Doohan who played Scotty on Star Trek lost the middle finger of his right hand on D-Day when he was part of the Royal Canadian Artillery. Yet most fans didn't know it because they always managed to film around the injury.

With Shia being right handed it should be no problem to just film where his left hand is not in the frame rather than tacking on something that will likely feel tacked on.

Frankly I think it would add a bit of realism to the movie. Sam was tossed around quite a bit in teh first movie, yet had only minor scratches. I know it's plausible he could, but in reality wouldn't it make more sense if during all his bounding and leaping and being tossed by giant robots he suffered a broken hand or foot or something?

But then again, it's a bloody hand-injury. It's not the end of the world. How would a damaged hand factor into the movie and ruin it?

I dunno, but I think it's funny, how a few people think it's gonna ruin the story, when you don't even know what the story is yet :p

If you already think the movie is lame, then why bother with it at all?

Split Lip beat me to it.
I was going to try and raise the issue how in most movies the hero is miraculously protected from serious injury. Yet the villains are so easily "taken out of action".
In the real world " the good die young", "no good deed goes unpunished" and the graveyards are full of dead heroes.
It bothered me at the end of the 1st movie. The human characters only suffered a few scratches, looking like they lost a fight with a hamster.

Alienbot showed us the example that should explain it all. I have no comment.

They didn't hide it anymore in the movies.

Plus, what's the point? Scotty's an engineer. Sure he could have had an accident? Wouldn't be totally out of place.

Anyhoo. Latest word from Bob Orci is that they probably won't write it in because it "won't be necessary".
