    here are the restrictions:
    - A level cap of 20.
    - A maximum of 10 gold.
    - Trade skills are capped at 100 ranks.
    - Unable to trade via the Auction House, mailbox, or player-to-player.
    - In-game access to public chat channels unavailable. Players are limited to communicating using only say, party, or whisper.
    - Characters will be unable to create or join guilds.
    - Characters are not able to send whispers to other characters unless they have been added to the characters' friends lists or have received a whisper from a character first.
    - Characters will not be able to invite other players into a party.
    - Characters will not be able to join parties with other characters above level 20.
    - Voice chat disabled on Starter Edition accounts.
    - Realms experiencing login queues will prioritize players who have full, paid accounts.
    - Starter Edition accounts are not eligible for character transfers
    - RealID features are disabled on all Starter Edition Accounts.

I am wondering if a WoW Vet can tell me how much these would take away from the experience as i am considering getting this to give WoW a try now that i a PC that can run it.

Something to take into consideration I am planning to play on a PvE Server.

You have been able to always make free accounts, but they would cap at lv 10, and have the same restrictions. All this does is give you an idea of how questing works. No real instancing and whatnot, and 100 cap on profs doesn't let you do much.

But if you have been thinking of it, just try it anyway, can't hurt. And there is already a WoW thread you can rummage thru.

Those chat restrictions seem pretty stupid.

Seems they're more in place to prevent spamming from gold farmers etc.

I figured that ,much and as is the no trade allowed. I intend to try a variety of class/race combinations to see what works best for me.

It's still quite a ways away, but this is a small step to them making it fully f2p.I think they're slowly realizing that if they want to keep up with the current market of f2p mmo's,they're eventually going to have to.

It would mean closing down a number of servers, and deleting a ton of old, inactive accounts. There's no way with the number of servers they have (well over 100) that they can make it "free to play".

Then they will be overcome and forgotten. The world of free to play is slowing overtaking pay to play mmo's not to mention some of them look better too graphics wise.Champions Online,D+D,Lord of the Rings,Conan the Barbarian, and Team Fortress 2 all f2p and City of Heroes heading that way,it's not looking good for the pay to play games. What Blizzard should do is what they're all doing, having an item mall. But put rare stuff in it,not everyday things.Like the Spectral Tiger mount.Put it in an item mall for 20 bucks. You may think that's alot, but I've seen ebay bids for just the card to unlock it go for over 100.

Course like I said it won't happen right away. It's still a ways off before it happens, but it will.

Graphics have never, nor will ever made a MMO better than another. Content > Graphics.

Blizz already has a online store to purchase things that you get online. All of them being mounts and pets.

Oh, and a Spectral Tiger goes for well over 100 bucks on ebay. WoW TCG Loot: Reins of the Swift Spectral Tiger They have dropped alot since there initial release, but yeah
